Redmine CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #17739 (Testing Required): Embedding docs from Word in Microsoft ...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/177392023-02-28T17:06:40ZLaurie Hurson

Hi All,

As you may or may not know, CUNY has been transitioning all faculty, staff, and students to Microsoft Office 365 cloud. So instead of having Microsoft Office software, everyone now gets these tools and saves docs etc in the 365 cloud.

Someone in a training asked about embedding the Live cloud-hosted word docs into a commons site, similar to how Google docs works, so that when they update their Word doc the commons embed is also updated. This is different from how Word and the Commons works now, where faculty have to upload the static document.

Some examples of sharing links from a test cloud-hosted word doc:

Hi All,

A user is trying to use the hyper audio plugin and soundcloud audio links. They are experiencing issues with this plugin and included the attached screenshot) (waiting for more info)

I also test this plugin with soundcloud audio here: https://classtestbmcc.commons.gc.cuny.edu/hyperaudio-test/

I am unable to make the audio play when trying to use the plugin with Soundcloud, and I am unable to make a YouTube video play because it required the iframe embed code, which is stripped out.

Would it be possible to make this plugin functional with Soundcloud audio and YouTube videos? This plugin would be great for accessibility purposes and adding transcripts to audio and video

Have noticed that Reply By Email forum posts are taking a while to go through... here's one I sent this morning at 7:02 to the TLC Group that took over an hour to land: https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/?p=99426. Similar thing happened yesterday with https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/?p=99360.
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #13358 (New): Improved UI for group forum threading settingshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/133582020-09-22T15:04:11ZBoone Gorgesboone@gorg.es

In #13341, there was some user confusion about the display of threaded content in a group forum. Whether it's displayed in a threaded way or in a linear way is controlled by a per-user setting, but this is not surfaced very well when looking at an individual thread, and it also means that logged-out users always see the default view (currently set to linear).

Let's consider the following:

1. Should we introduce a per-topic toggle? Something like: "Threaded view: On | Off" or "View replies as: Threaded | Unthreaded" or whatever. Where would this toggle appear on the page? Presumably it would be visible to all users (logged-in or otherwise) but would default to the global setting of the user. When implemented, we should be sure that the setting persists through pagination, so that if you click 'Threaded' and then go to page 2, it should be page 2 of threaded results (presumably via URL param)
2. What should be the default display? Currently, it's linear. I would suggest that perhaps it should be threaded. For discussions that have no inline replies, the threaded view is the same as the linear view. But for those that do have inline replies, it can be confusing to default to linear.

Tentatively placing in the 1.18.0 milestone.
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #12004 (Reporter Feedback): Notifications for spam blog commentshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/120042019-10-22T18:30:17ZGina Cherry

You recently added functionality to the Commons so that the site administrator receives an email notification when a comment goes to spam. This worked for awhile, but today I noticed two comments in spam for which I was not notified.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #11649 (In Progress): CC license displayed on every pagehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/116492019-07-18T16:03:33ZGina Cherry

The CC license is unintentionally displayed at the bottom of every page and post on the CETLS web site (in addition to being intentionally displayed in a widget in the footer): https://cetls.bmcc.cuny.edu/. I recently realized that this behavior may be specific to the theme I am using for the site (Canvas). How can I remove the CC license information from the pages and posts?
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #9729 (New): 503 Errors showing on newlaborforum.cuny.eduhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/97292018-05-08T12:46:01ZDiane Krauthamer

Hi there - newlaborforum.cuny.edu is generating a lot of 503 errors, causing issues with the crawl. I seemed to temporarily resolve this issue by deactivating the Jetpack plugin, but now it appears to be a server issue perhaps. I have attached a screenshot of how these errors appear on a recent crawl report.
Any assistance with resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #9060 (Hold): Problems with CBox image library / uploadhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/90602018-01-05T14:46:36ZLisa Rhodylrhody@gc.cuny.edu

Hi there.. I know this is more of a CBOX question than a Commons issue, but I'm hoping you all might have an idea as to what's going on. I've created a CBOX install at dhinstitutes.org. On that CBOX install, there is a sub-domain wordpress site (dhinstitutes.org/june2018). I can upload images to the Media Library on the main CBOX site, but I am unable to get any images to upload correctly on the sub-domain. I've double checked, and the images are below the max-upload threshold. They are the correct format, etc. etc. When they are "uploading" WordPress goes through all the motions, but no thumbnail appears.. just a gray box. When you try to edit the image in the Media Library, the image is there and can be edited; however, when you select the image from the media library to insert into a page or post, it shows up as a gray box. Any idea what's going on?
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #7928 (New): Duplicate Forum posthttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/79282017-04-07T16:57:35ZLuke Waltzerlwaltzer@gc.cuny.edu

Hi Boone,

I'm trying to produce a grant report and get a sense of some CAC numbers. When I click on "Sites" in the nav bar, I see two different numbers 1575 in the "All Sites" tab and 2263 in the Viewing x of x info line.

Which is correct, and is this evidence of a bug of some kind? Or does it just reflect something like private/hidden sites that I can see as a super-admin?

Marking this as high priority only because I'm trying to get the report in and would appreciate a quick answer if at all possible.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #4388 (Assigned): Repeated request for authentication.https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/43882015-08-05T19:43:46ZAlice.Lynn McMichaelalimcmichael@hotmail.com

Hi, I'm building a site on the Commons, and when I click on a page or refresh one, a pop-up asking for authentication interrupts the work, often making me click OK up to 8-10 times. (It doesn't go away if I click Cancel, either). I can't tell whether this is Commons-wide or related to my account or theme, although it did not happen when I used a different Commons site yesterday

My site is not public yet, but the URL is amcmichael.commons.gc.cuny.edu and the theme is Make. I've had this problem repeatedly over the last couple of weeks. (See the attached screenshot for the pop-up box that I get).

Thank you.
Best,
Alice Lynn
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #3192 (Assigned): Customizable forum views for bbPress 2.x group ...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/31922014-05-02T13:44:43ZBoone Gorgesboone@gorg.es

From #3177:

Boone: "We have some customizations that allow users to modify "posts per page" and "order" when viewing a topic. It should be possible to do the same in bbPress 2.x, but it'll need to be rewritten from scratch. We may decide that this particular task could be postponed if it's going to be a lot of work."

Ray: " I've always wanted to write a plugin that adds a bbPress forum settings page to a BP profile. This page will have settings such as sort order and pagination. Probably a good opportunity to do so."

I like the idea of creating a per-user setting that lets people decide how they'd like to view forums by default. But I don't think we should lose the per-thread, ad hoc settings - it's often only in certain situations that we want to, say, view by ASC rather than DESC.

Ray, I'm going to pass this over to you. I've added a number of other team members to chime in on what they do and don't like about the current implementation.

(I'll also note that, IMHO, this is a lower-priority forums feature. If we were pressed for time, we shouldn't let this one hold up a release.)
