Redmine CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #6671 (Assigned): "Post too often" RBE error messagehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/66712016-11-11T14:55:22ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

Hi Ray,

I sent a reply by email to the CAC group just now. The message posted, but I also received an error message by email -- please see attached
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #5691 (Assigned): Differing numbers on Sites displayhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/56912016-06-13T17:12:55ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

Hi Boone,

I'm trying to produce a grant report and get a sense of some CAC numbers. When I click on "Sites" in the nav bar, I see two different numbers 1575 in the "All Sites" tab and 2263 in the Viewing x of x info line.

Which is correct, and is this evidence of a bug of some kind? Or does it just reflect something like private/hidden sites that I can see as a super-admin?

Marking this as high priority only because I'm trying to get the report in and would appreciate a quick answer if at all possible.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #5282 (New): Replying via email directs to paper but not individual c...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/52822016-03-02T16:31:39ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

Kelly Josephs commented that "I have no idea how to see which comment you are replying to when I get an update from the paper via email. I clicked on the "see comment" but it just took me to the paper, not to the comment"

Adding it here as a suggestion for future release, I think. Thanks!
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #4535 (New): My Commons filter issuehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/45352015-09-01T15:08:22Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

Raffi reports that when on My Commons, using the My Groups filter, if you click on a link (leaving My Commons) and then click the browser's back button, you are taken to the correct page with My Groups selected, but the content is not filtered correctly (i.e. displays content that does not belong in My Groups).

I was able to reproduce the issue.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #4388 (Assigned): Repeated request for authentication.https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/43882015-08-05T19:43:46ZAlice.Lynn McMichaelalimcmichael@hotmail.com

Hi, I'm building a site on the Commons, and when I click on a page or refresh one, a pop-up asking for authentication interrupts the work, often making me click OK up to 8-10 times. (It doesn't go away if I click Cancel, either). I can't tell whether this is Commons-wide or related to my account or theme, although it did not happen when I used a different Commons site yesterday

My site is not public yet, but the URL is amcmichael.commons.gc.cuny.edu and the theme is Make. I've had this problem repeatedly over the last couple of weeks. (See the attached screenshot for the pop-up box that I get).

Here are some quotes from #3853-6:

About Co-Authors Plus, do we want to do something to support multiple authors? Create a new activity stream item for each author?

I'd say this is not worth the effort for our purposes. Though this suggestion, and others on this tracker and elsewhere (#3178), make me wonder whether BP's activity table should have an 'alias_of' column or something like that, which we could use instead of 'hide_sitewide' for hiding near-dupes. Hmmmmm....

Currently, it's only being used on three sites so it's not widely used across the Commons. I've marked the status of this ticket to "Hold", but feel free to close.
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #3662 (Assigned): Duplicate Content/SEO/Google issueshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/36622014-11-17T06:50:57ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

Hi All,

Those of you in the CAT group will have seen Bruce Rosenbloom's report on Google's changed search algorithms. It looks like they have serious consequences for the Commons and its users -- go to google, type CUNY Academic Commons, and the CAC doesn't even come up on the first page of results.

I checked in with Chris Caruso on this, and he suggested that the issue could be WordPress Multisite and duplicate content. You can see some of his thoughts on a previous SEO-related ticket here

I think that we need to try to start addressing some of these issues, as they will affect users who blog on the site or who otherwise hope to use it to raise their profiles by sharing their work on it.
CUNY Academic Commons - Design/UX #3577 (Assigned): Replies to items in My Commonshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/35772014-10-19T01:00:26ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

If I click "reply" to an activity item on My Commons related to a forum post, where will my reply be posted -- on the activity stream or on the forum itself (or both)? A bit unclear. Screenshot attached

Boone, can you please answer this and then, if you think it is warranted, assign to Chris/Samantha for discussion? Thanks.
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #3536 (Assigned): Infinite Scroll on My Commons pagehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/35362014-10-08T16:09:25ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

Right now, there is a "Load More" link at the bottom of the My Commons page. To bring the site into line with current web practices, can we implement infinite scroll there, so that new items get loaded as users get to the bottom of the page?
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #3517 (Assigned): Mute/Unmute My Commons updateshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/35172014-10-01T23:31:39ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

Per ticket #3510, the new My Commons feature will make friendship matter more, since it will determine what people see in their timelines. Unfriending or not accepting a friend request may be awkward, though, and we want to encourage friendship. So maybe we should enable a mute/unmute button on the MyCommons page that will prevent/allow updates from a user's activity to show up in another user's timeline on the MyCommons view.
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #3492 (Assigned): Add CBOX theme to the Commonshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/34922014-09-24T23:47:25Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

I was wondering if we want to have the CBOX theme as a choice for members on the Commons. Not sure if this would cause any difficulties, since it is a BP theme... Maybe with the sitewide wiki and its widgets (which we could also as a plugin option)?
CUNY Academic Commons - Outreach #3369 (Hold): Release reply by email to WP plugin directoryhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/33692014-08-13T14:28:57ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

Hi Ray,

I was just taking a look at the CAC profile on wp.org and it looks to me like we haven't packaged BP RBE for release as a plugin. Is that the case? If so, would you be willing to devote some time to that this fall, perhaps after we move past Gen Chem and 1.7?
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #3192 (Assigned): Customizable forum views for bbPress 2.x group ...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/31922014-05-02T13:44:43ZBoone Gorgesboone@gorg.es

From #3177:

Boone: "We have some customizations that allow users to modify "posts per page" and "order" when viewing a topic. It should be possible to do the same in bbPress 2.x, but it'll need to be rewritten from scratch. We may decide that this particular task could be postponed if it's going to be a lot of work."

Ray: " I've always wanted to write a plugin that adds a bbPress forum settings page to a BP profile. This page will have settings such as sort order and pagination. Probably a good opportunity to do so."

I like the idea of creating a per-user setting that lets people decide how they'd like to view forums by default. But I don't think we should lose the per-thread, ad hoc settings - it's often only in certain situations that we want to, say, view by ASC rather than DESC.

Ray, I'm going to pass this over to you. I've added a number of other team members to chime in on what they do and don't like about the current implementation.

(I'll also note that, IMHO, this is a lower-priority forums feature. If we were pressed for time, we shouldn't let this one hold up a release.)
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #1192 (Assigned): When posting group files, allow users to add a ...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/11922011-09-21T20:15:25ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

But there's no button to add that field to the list of checkboxes. As a result, the only way to tag something with multiple new categories is to repeatedly save and edit, which is a pain.
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #333 (Assigned): Delay Forum Notification Email Delivery Until Af...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/3332010-09-13T18:10:58ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

If we are giving members 15 minutes or so to edit forum posts, perhaps we should delay sending the email notifications until that period expires. That's how the old Moodle system works, and I think it's a good system. One cause of the errors in #332, for instance, might have been curved quotation marks pasted from MS Word that were corrected during the editing period.
