Redmine CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #4962 (Resolved): Problems with text entry field in the Events Calendarhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/49622015-12-01T20:12:11ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

Katina Rogers from the Futures Initiative at the GC writes:
I love the new events function, but I have been having an issue that I wanted to notify you about. The text entry field for adding groups to the event appears very small. When I begin typing, suggestions of groups I belong to appear, but they are displayed in a way that is illegible. See screenshots below.
I am using Chrome 46.0.2490.86 (64-bit) on a Mac. The same thing happens on Firefox 41.0.2. I’ve had this same thing occur more than once. Thanks so much for looking into it!

Later she added:
I just tested on Safari and had the same issue. I am using Version 8.0.3 (10600.3.18).
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #4734 (Resolved): Problems with "Create New Doc"https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/47342015-10-02T19:19:09ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

I have a ticket in ZenDesk that seems to indicate a problem with the "Create New Doc" feature. Group members of http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/edr-605-fall-2015/ have been given the attached instructions to create and edit documents. I was able to edit without any difficulty, but when I create a new doc, it shows in my feed but not in the Doc list for the group. I thought at first that the problem was that users needed to select the "EDR 605 Fall 2015's Docs" tab, but that doesn't solve the problem. LMK if you all need more info.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #4657 (Resolved): Submit button disappears in new post mode in forumhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/46572015-09-22T20:59:10ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

A user reports:
I was just trying to post a new message to the forum for the CUNY CAT. The body of the message included a YouTube URL. *As soon as I added the URL, the preview panel expanded to the point where the submit button seemed to disappear.

(This is the message I was trying to post:

"At the last meeting of the CUNY CAT, there was interest in seeing a video overview of the OneSearch system that was launched last fall. I'm sharing here a video that the CUNY Office of Library Services made shortly after the launch that might be worth sharing with your colleagues and students:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxxxIOS9mpc

If there is anything not covered in this video that you'd like to see in a new video, please let me know."

-----------
Since that didn't work, I then tried the post by email option. After I submitted the post by email, I got an automated email back with this message:

Could not be posted because it appears that you do not have access to that forum.

This is the email address I used to try to post that message:
cunyacademiccommons+78b74745eb63b293a8bcb3aec7beb25280e411ec070ace3f1616aa551d005b48-new@gmail.com

Let me know if this is a known issue. Thanks!
- Marilyn
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #4542 (Resolved): Emailing group users problemhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/45422015-09-02T14:15:47ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

Boone -
A user writes:
I have been attempting to email all users of my site—the BMCC Writing Accountability Group (to remind them to write) but I get this message when I click “email users: "
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, root@gc.cuny.edu and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.”

I can't replicate the problem myself. Let me know if you need more info.
- Marilyn
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #4496 (Resolved): Quick links broken? https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/44962015-08-26T16:34:27ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

I understand that this may already be a known issue. A user writes: "I am trying to add a quick link to my profile but, though it says the name (heatherwright) is available it will not save it. I'm not sure if there is a bug or if I am doing something wrong. I typed in the name, waited until it said available, and then clicked save changes. I have tried it a few different times (on two different browsers) and still nothing. "

Please let me know when solved and I'll update the user. Thanks!

Ola Galal is logging in to CUNY Commons and trying to embed a video in the webpage - "The Center for place, culture, and politics". The video is taken from Videostreams.gc.cuny.edu. However, instead of the video, she just gets the link on the webpage. How does one embed the video itself instead of just link?

Ola can be reached at 347-205-0850 or ola.galal@yahoo.com if you'd like to talk directly.
CUNY Academic Commons - Design/UX #4102 (Resolved): Username ruleshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/41022015-05-29T16:23:32ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

A new user just made the following complaint:
I just tried to register for an account, and attempted to include an underscore in my username. I did this based on the list of examples which includes "jane_doe", but then got an error because underscore isn't an acceptable character.

In addition to the underscore problem, it's not obvious that you can now only use lowercase letters. This is especially confusing since some users do have capitals in their names.

Matt suggested I open a Redmine ticket. Perhaps we could change the wording on the signup page so that all the rules are obvious?
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #4012 (Resolved): Two users reporting same Forbidden 403 error message. https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/40122015-04-22T14:56:57ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

Both user have been sent invite from different people - "You have been invited by Kate McPherson to join the CUNY Academic Commons community. To accept this invitation, please visit http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/register/?iaaction=accept-invitation&email=Bm514%40hunter.cuny.edu."

Both appear to be graduate students or staff:
1) Gabriela Hernandez Santiago
CUNY School of Public Health

2) Brian D Maasjo
bm514@hunter.cuny.edu

(The person who sent the first invites reports that the problem seems to be in the invite. She's walked others through joining the Commons, then requesting membership to the groups. That works fine.)

I don't have anyone to test this on. LMK if I can help. Thanks!!
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #3593 (Resolved): registration problemshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/35932014-10-22T15:55:39ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

Beth Vayshenker is trying to use her address to register on the Commons, and is having two problems I can replicate:

1) The email BVayshenker@gc.cuny.edu is triggering the "Sorry, that email address is not allowed" error.
2) bethvayshenker is triggering the "Only lowercase letters (a-z) and numbers are allowed" error.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #3533 (Resolved): Trying to invite member to a new grouphttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/35332014-10-08T13:38:34ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

In Cdev, when I'm logged in as teststudent, I can send an invite (to my real self) from the "Test Hidden Group" using the "send invite" button as per usual. But when I create a new group, the send invite button is not there on Chrome and IE. (See first two attached screenshots.) I have to first create the group ("Marilyn Hidden", "Marilyn 2" ) (See last attached screenshot.)
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #3466 (Resolved): restricting undergrad registrationhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/34662014-09-15T14:49:48ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

Boone -
Matt woule like you to to restrict registration from these domains. (These are addresses for undergrad students only, so they should affect faculty/staff from these colleges.)

I can get to step # 5 ("External Blogs" - see attached screen shot), but if I leave the Feed URL's (sic) box empty and click on Next Page, I get "The webpage cannot be found" (http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/create/step/external-blog-feeds/).
We have an incoming commons member who would really like to use the Academica theme. Is this a PITA to add? More info here - http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/academica/. Happy to answer any further questions about why I'm making this request and marking it High priority.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #3071 (Resolved): Twenty Fourteen theme differenceshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/30712014-02-24T21:34:20ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

Not sure if this is a Redmine issue. I've attached three screenshots to show how the Twenty Fourteen theme
1) loses both the background and sidebar in IE (and truncates "CUNY Academic Commons" to "CUNY Ac"
2) does not allow text or images to fill the middle part of the screen, instead displaying quite a bit of white "dead" space. (I suspect this might be something I can figure out.)
