"Firstly, I would like to thank everyone on the CUNY Academic Commons team. I have utilized this resource numerous times with very good results. The only thing I am curious about is a plugin that is approved for use on CAC. The plugin is called, “Display Eventbrite Events (https://fullworksplugins.com/products/widget-for-eventbrite/) .” I built a website for a program within our school and the program would like to display Eventbrite events on a webpage, but the catch is the events are private and only the paid version of this plugin with display private events from Eventbrite API on a webpage. So, my question is could we purchase and implement the paid version of this plugin on CAC?

The website that I am looking to expand and implement this functionality on is below. Also, side note I am a WordPress-er and have been working with coding and developing on the CMS for some years now and I understand why you lock down certain functionality for CAC, but I am hoping we can possibly implement this.

Jacob Gutte
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #15686 (Resolved): ZenDesk introducing "triggers"https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/156862022-03-21T17:04:43ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

Ray, Matt wanted you to have a look at this:

"HI MARILYN,

Zendesk has introduced a new feature called trigger categories to help customers organize triggers and make them easier to manage. Beginning March 31, 2022, we will be automatically adding a default category to your triggers. Our records indicate you have not yet enabled triggers in your account and will be affected by this change, so we’re reaching out with a friendly reminder in case you missed our in-product notification.

What does this mean?
In January 2021, Zendesk rolled out trigger categories as an opt-in feature and since then, many of our customers have taken advantage of this functionality with great results. We are now moving to the next phase of this rollout and will automatically add categories for customers who have not enabled them by March 31.

Please note that this change will not impact the order or the behavior of your triggers. Triggers will continue to execute in the sequence in which they’re ordered, as they always have.

What do I need to do?
We encourage you to get ahead of this change by enabling this functionality on your trigger edit page. Once you are using trigger categories, you’ll be able to designate a category when creating a new trigger via the Zendesk API or the Zendesk user interface. If you don’t specify a category when creating a new trigger, we will select a category for you.

If you don’t take action, after March 31, 2022 you’ll see a default category appear in your list of triggers. This will not impact the way your triggers execute and you shouldn’t notice any other change.

Please refer to this article for details, and partner with your developer resources as appropriate. And as always, you can contact us if you have questions or need additional support.

We have two ZD tickets reporting logo problems:

1) From Brianna Caszatt, yesterday morning:

"I've tried updating and removing my page's logo, and it's still showing an old logo that I only added in as a placeholder.

Every other update I make shows up instantly, but this element doesn't update and I don't know why. Is there a site cache somewhere I can clear? When I check the site on another device, it's now displaying an empty box as I've removed the image from our media library. So I don't see how it could be my own computer's cache causing the problem.

Here is my site link: https://mappingcemeteries.commons.gc.cuny.edu/"

Later in the afternoon:

"Now that you’ve emailed me, my logo seems to have disappeared. I don’t have a replacement logo yet (and might not include one), so I guess this issue is resolved for now. It was just strange to me that the old logo was hanging on for so long (more than 24 hours), when every other change I’ve ever made to the site has been almost instant.

I will let you know if I have any further problems when our group has agreed on a replacement logo."

2) From Marianne Madoré, today

I would like to restore the settings of my theme to "default settings" and a quick search on the internet told me that it was easy to it with the plugin "WP reset" unfortunately, it looks like it s not available in the list of plugins we have accessed to via the Commons, would it be possible to add it?

alternatively, the reason I want to reset the theme, is because i believe this is a bug on my home page. I deleted my logo (on purpose) but the header is still showing the place holder for the logo (an empty square with the words: back home" and the icon of a missing image) see attached screenshot ://

Boone, going to Automattic then the wordpress.org theme repository allowed me to get here - https://wordpress.org/themes/tags/grid-layout. Do we have or can we try any of those? BlogLife and Occasio looked pretty good to me. But I'm open to anything that allows for 3 or more columns.
John Paul Hill write via Zendesk:

I'm writing about the Office of Career Planning & Professional Development's website. (https://careerplan.commons.gc.cuny.edu/)

We're having an issue with the appearance of our media player. We use the plugin Blubrry PowerPress to publish our podcast, Alumni Aloud. Recently we've noticed that the media player loads properly initially but then automatically reloads to a different display. We're less concerned with the way the forced reload looks than we are with the fact that the media player covers the line of text above it.

I've included a few screenshots to illustrate the issue. On our podcast pages, we use the PowerPress code [powerpress] to control where the media player shows up on the page. However, I don't think that the issue is in the PowerPress plugin because the display issue also shows up on our transcript pages. On our transcript pages, we use [audio src=" "] to insert the media player, and we have the same problem.

I'm hoping that the media player style is getting overwritten by something on our website's style sheet. Our child theme was copied from the Library's old website.

Later he added:
The screenshots that I included in the original request were of the following two webpages on our site:
https://careerplan.commons.gc.cuny.edu/blog/alumni-aloud-episode-41
https://careerplan.commons.gc.cuny.edu/blog/alumni-aloud-episode-01-transcript
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #11211 (Resolved): user needs to edit the HTML codinghttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/112112019-03-11T19:54:19ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

There's a glitch that removes the Facebook button from our top menu, and I have the proper code to fix it but I need to know where I can open the HTML editor. I have attached examples. Any advice would be appreciated."

I suggested that he use Edit CSS but he replies "CSS is definitely helpful to stylize it in the top menu to our liking, but the problem is that the glitch has erased the actual HTML code in that spot, so I can’t CSS stylize what isn’t there in the HTML."
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #8941 (Resolved): Theme request: ColorNewshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/89412017-11-28T13:14:34ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

Diane Krauthamer (diane.krauthamer@sps.cuny.edu) has requested a plugin. Here are her Google form replies:

What's the name of the plugin/theme?
ColorNews

In a few words, what does it do?
It displays content in a visually-appealing manner that will adapt well with the website design improvements we have been discussing for http://newlaborforum.cuny.edu/.

Please provide a link to the plugin
https://wordpress.org/themes/colornews/

Please research the release history and popularity of the plugin. How many times has it been downloaded? When was it last updated?
It has been downloaded over 7,000 times. It was last updated on May 9, 2017.

How is the plugin/theme different from what's already provided on the Commons?
The theme provides built-in functionality such as an animated slider, social media buttons, and a scrolling news feed that the other themes available on the Commons appear to be lacking.

Please let us know who you are (include a link to your site) and who will use this tool?
My name is Diane Krauthamer (diane.krauthamer@sps.cuny.edu) .
