Redmine CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #12198 (Abandoned): Duplicate listing in My Siteshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/121982019-12-09T20:33:15ZTom Harbison

This site, since the time of creation, my "Sandbox Fun" site shows up twice in my My Sites listing in the drop-down in the upper-right. The site is at https://sandboxfun.commons.gc.cuny.edu/. I can see that the menu links go to the same site, since when I make a change on one it is reflected on the other. I'm attaching a screenshot showing how it appears in my menu. Please let me know if there's other info I can provide.

Thanks!

It looks like the Google Forms plugin may not be working anymore. I see a warning from last summer indicating that the plugin may not work after Google's switch to a new UI for Forms (first screenshot attached). And when I try to create a form, I get more errors/warnings (second screenshot attached). I'm happy to do more testing, but before wanted to see if there are other reports on this, or whether it's something already on your radar.
CUNY Academic Commons - Design/UX #11557 (Resolved): "Site names can only contain lowercase lette...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/115572019-06-12T14:25:29ZTom Harbison

One the Create a Site page, is there a way to flag a site domain that fails to meet requirements before the user clicks the "Create Site" button? I ask because Gina and I are sitting with an instructor who is launching a site, and we didn't catch his mistake of using capital letters in the Site Domain field until after he had spent a few minutes filling out the rest of the page. Perhaps something akin to the warning that says in red letters "This blog name is over 15 characters" could display if problematic characters are detected? Or maybe an additional note that goes beyond that permanently above the text box ("Note: The domain cannot be changed once created," saying that "Site names can only contain lowercase letters (a-z) and numbers." Otherwise, I don't think the message that "Site names can only contain lowercase letters (a-z) and numbers" gets displayed to the user until attempting to submit and then the page reloads losing some of what they've filled out.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #11556 (Abandoned): Instructor name given in course listinghttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/115562019-06-11T18:29:04ZTom Harbison

I've started to go back and add metadata for BMCC course sites, and I see that they come up at https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/courses/ with just my name as the instructor (e.g., see attached screen shot). However, that course was created by the instructor (Bettina Berch) and looking at users for the course (https://eco201.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/users.php), I see both Laurie Hurson and I are admins. I believe the instructor added Laurie and I when we were supporting her last summer. Am I getting listed as the instructor since I'm the one updating the Campus and Primary Purpose fields? How can I update this metadata without getting my name listed as the instructor?
CUNY Academic Commons - Design/UX #11520 (Resolved): More prominent "Register" path for first tim...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/115202019-06-04T18:56:34ZTom Harbison

I've observed that sometimes users without a Commons account get tripped up the first time they enter after getting invited to a group/site. I believe the path they are expected to take is to click the "Register" button at the bottom of the "You must log in to access the page you requested" page (shown in attached screenshot), but they don't recognize this. Are there any design changes that might make the register path more clear to these first-time users?
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #11093 (Duplicate): Silent option for groupblog postshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/110932019-02-13T20:23:46ZTom Harbison

I would like to request a silent option/feature for users who wish to post to a group site without generating an email notification to the group for particular posts.

Thanks,
Tom
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #11079 (Resolved): Improved formatting in groupblog emailshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/110792019-02-11T19:15:41ZTom Harbison

Is it possible for the formatting of emails to groups when new posts are made to more closely match the formatting in the posts? In particular, I have been asked by a couple of users at BMCC if links from the body of a blog post could be preserved in the email. I've also been asked why paragraph formatting is altered in the emails and whether this can be improved. I know this may not be possible, but wanted to provide the users with an explanation of how that process works and what the limitations are.
