Redmine CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #19603 (Resolved): Accepting group membership leads to error messagehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/196032024-01-25T21:53:25ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

Hi Ray -- I just tried to accept someone's group membership request and saw an error. Here's what happened:

I clicked on the relevant link in the email notification and I was taken to the Requests section of the group

I clicked "Accept" on the request

the screen refreshed with a red error message at the top, saying there was a problem and to try again later

I clicked on the "Requests" link again to try to reload the request. nothing was there

I checked the group membership and the acceptance had gone through.

can you please check to see whether you can replicate?

one possibility is that a co-admin of the group accepted the membership request just as I was getting to it myself, but that seems unlikely

here is the group in question: https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/ms-program-in-data-analysis-and-visualization/
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #19564 (Resolved): Update About > Publications pagehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/195642024-01-19T19:43:49ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

Looks like we have a new journal! https://pirjournal.commons.gc.cuny.edu/

Related to https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/15122 : incidentally, when I couldn't click on a subject line to read the message, I clicked "read," thinking that that would allow me to read the message, but it looked like doing so marked the message as read. that seems a bit confusing to me; instead of "Read | Delete" I'm wondering whether we should have "Mark as Read | Delete"
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #14450 (Rejected): Misclassified sitehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/144502021-05-12T16:34:35ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

in searching the course directory for "biology," I came across this site -- https://hkharoub.commons.gc.cuny.edu/ -- which appears to be a portfolio rather than a course. It should probably be reclassified.
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #14072 (Rejected): Posting to multiple groups via emailhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/140722021-02-27T22:08:38ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

Hi Ray,

I'm not sure whether this is a bug or not, but when I post to multiple groups via email, I now receive an email notification for each post of the same message. I'm guessing that that's how it's supposed to be because it's too complicated for the system to recognize these as cross-posts (and the removal of that check is likely what allows that functionality in the first place, which again, I love!), but I wanted to check in to see whether this was expected behavior, as it is different from how posting to multiple groups works via posting to the web forum.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #13934 (Resolved): Error message on group settings changehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/139342021-02-03T00:28:08ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

I went to a group of mine (https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/cunydhi/) and saw the notice about the need to complete the group metadata settings. So I clicked on the link and I was brought the group > manage page. I filled out the campus and purpose fields, and clicked save. When I did, I was brought to a screen with an error message about the group URL (see attached), which I do not think I changed. It does seem like the campus/purpose settings were recorded, but I'm not certain.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #13890 (Resolved): Not sure email notification went outhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/138902021-01-26T18:42:54ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

Hi Ray,

I was looking in my email for a message I had sent out to multiple groups -- https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/cuny-committee-on-academic-technology-62702785/forum/topic/cuny-academic-commons-redesign-survey/ -- and I didn't see an email notification. Since I cc'ed many more groups than I normally do, I wanted to check in to see whether a notification actually went out via email. Is that something you might be able to check? It's possible, of course, that my email diagnosed the message as spam or that I otherwise missed it.
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #12332 (Resolved): Limit length of email subject triggered by eve...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/123322020-01-28T01:14:01ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

I received a notification of a new event creation; because it was posted to multiple groups, it had a very long subject line:

Stefano Morello created the event The Social Backend: Community-Driven Digital Archives and Exhibits in the groups GC Events and Workshops, DARC (Digital Archive Research Collective), Digital Humanities Initiative, GC Digital Research Institute - January 2019, GC Digital Research Institute January 2018, GC Digital Research Institute – January 2020, Provost’s Digital Innovation Grant Recipients.

(screenshot attached)

Can we limit the number of groups mentioned in the subject line of the email and/or find a way to shorten the title in situations like this?
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #11121 (Resolved): Overlapping elements on mobile view of CAChttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/111212019-02-18T02:56:20ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

Hi Boone -- A few weeks ago (sorry for not reporting earlier), I took this screenshot of a view of a CAC group on my iPhone. It seems that some elements are overlapping each other.
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #10859 (Resolved): Prevent trackbacks on previously published pag...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/108592018-12-23T22:11:53ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

On the Digital University site -- https://digitaluniversity2010.commons.gc.cuny.edu -- (a site from 2010) I've set up the discussion settings so that comments and trackbacks cannot be posted on new articles and that comments are disabled on content 50 days or older.

But I am still getting emails about trackbacks (I assume new trackbacks) being held in moderatinon. For now, I've disabled email notifications, but I am wondering whether there is a way to auto-close all comments/trackbacks on all existing pages/posts, since my reading of the Discussion tab is that most of the settings there only affect new content
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #9875 (Resolved): Can't mark message as readhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/98752018-06-01T21:58:18ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

In my Profile > Messages section, I have something like 59 messages marked as unread. I wanted to set them all as read, so I went to the "Select All" > Mark as read tool at the bottom of the first page of messages and marked the first 5 pages of messages as read. When I then went back to page 1 , the messages were still marked as unread
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #7908 (Resolved): Top nav inconsistent height issuehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/79082017-04-04T18:37:15ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

in the attached screenshot, the hight of the top nav bar does not quite match the user listing. It looks like we have some custom user css there (please see attached); can you please help me set up the padding correctly?
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #5016 (Assigned): Allow comments to be posted on eventshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/50162015-12-11T18:29:09ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

In the listing of all blogs, I see avatars of members: http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/blogs/

Blogs don't really have avatars, so maybe this is by design? If so, I don't remember seeing it before, and I don't think it should be the case. Can you let me know what should be shown there, and then we'll take it from there?
