Redmine CUNY Academic Commons - Support #14733 (Duplicate): Academic Interests UIhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/147332021-08-27T21:07:24Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

Ideally, the "Academic Interests" field on the Commons Profile page should be a hyperlink to others who share these interests. I don't see that it is serving this purpose.

I know that this is late in the game to propose a controlled vocabulary - should we even try for this?

As a workaround - can the interests be re-created as hyperlinks - I know they used to be, but the UI isn't very friendly to this sort of filter. Most profiles I look at do not have interests as hyperlinks.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #13865 (Resolved): 'Digital Research Tools' profile nav item is cut offhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/138652021-01-21T21:30:38Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

On the left sidebar of everyone's Commons Profile, "Digital Research Tools" seems to be getting chopped off.
Right now the link goes to an intermediary page. Shouldn't it just go to Zendesk?
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #11173 (Resolved): Accessibility Checkerhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/111732019-02-27T01:20:36Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

From member Tsubasa Berg:

"I recently created a new site<http://kctldiversefaculty.commons.gc.cuny.edu/> on Academic Commons, and am trying to figure out how to get the following two things done:

1. In the mobile view, there is a black bar on the top of the page that overlaps with the header title/logo. I'm trying to add extra padding on the top to move the title/logo down on the page using CSS. I tried a couple of things, but no luck.
2. I'm also trying to set a logo image in the header (without removing the title/subtitle line). The theme allows me to add "Logo" in the "Customization," but for some reason, it's not showing up on the header."

I set up a site using that theme - I think that issue #1 may be related to the length of the subtitle that throws off the format. My subtitle was shorter and worked fine. Is there a CSS workaround?
For issue #2 - I see (like Tsubasa) that the theme does not seem to respond to logo changes.

Hi - Commons member Shawn McGinniss reports an issue with posting group announcements: "I encountered an error today while trying to post an announcement which reads, 'There was a problem posting your update, please try again' in a red bar above the text entry box on the Announcements page. The error is the same across browsers and occurs whether or not the box is checked to email the announcement to all members of the group. "

It seems like the admin of WordPress Help hasn't been active on the Commons for 5 years. I was wondering if we could: a) create an appealing avatar for the group; and maybe, b) consider some other member to adopt the site as an admin, someone more active. I like the feeling that the group was started by a regular member of the Commons, to help the general community. Maybe just implementing a new avatar would suffice.
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #3702 (Resolved): access the Old Paper Themehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/37022014-12-09T02:22:38Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

Is is possible to grant me access to the "Old Paper" theme on my test site - http://oldpapertest.commons.gc.cuny.edu/ ? "Old Paper" is LLJournal's theme and going forward, it would help me answer questions coming from the LLJournal staff.

It is hard to understand what the theme does and doesn't do without working with it. Thanks!
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #3523 (Resolved): 1.7 Testing - "Reply" and Post Buttonhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/35232014-10-04T16:06:55Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but just wanted to discuss this.

The "Reply" button seems to only appear when a file was uploaded, when a friendship is made, or someone posts a personal “Update”, or when someone creates a group, or when someone joins a group. Is that the correct? It then opens up a place where you can post your reply, and that post just seems to go to your activity stream. I am not totally clear on the purpose, but think it is designed to then show up in your others "My Commons" screens - kinda like an aside or conversation? (i.e. "Glad to see you two are friends" or "Looking forward to reading the file you uploaded.") If that is the case, maybe the wording could be a little more clear. I don't think members will be all that clear about what they are doing when they create reply posts. I wasn't at first.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #3522 (Resolved): 1.7 Testing - Delete button not working on My Commonshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/35222014-10-04T15:32:54Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

When I began testing this morning it was working - but after 15 minutes or so, it just spins every time I click a delete button on a My Commons thread. I tried on Window 7 - Firefox and Chrome and also on a Mac with Chrome.

Also - I think it is unclear what “Delete” means. I am assuming it means to filter out the entry from your personal activity stream. Should it be instead called “Filter Out”?

In certain circumstances, I think when a comment is added to a post, or when you click on “Delete” you have an additional checkbox – “Prevent this page from creating additional dialogs?” I think the wording could be a little clearer - “Filter out any more comments on this post/topic” or something like that. I'm assuming it's meant to be used when you are tired of follow a thread.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #3502 (Resolved): "Create a Site" button not working on Blog Pagehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/35022014-09-29T12:21:18Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

A member reported that the "Create a Site" button is not working on the Blog Page. I tested in Chrome and Firefox, and indeed it is not working.
"Publications on the Commons" was added to the About tab on the site's main navigation, but it is missing on the Admin Bar's "About" link. Low priority - but would be nice to have options consistent. Thanks.
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #3098 (Rejected): Access to UserVoicehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/30982014-03-05T12:40:43Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

I would like to investigate how we can expand our usage of UserVoice. Can you please grant me permission to access the application? Ideally it would be great it this was on the Dev site - but not sure if this is possible. Thanks.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #1230 (Resolved): Access to blogs after releasehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/12302011-10-13T01:54:09Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

Hi - I've noticed that I can't get into some blogs after release. For example: DHI - http://cunydhi.commons.gc.cuny.edu/ Codex - http://codex.commons.gc.cuny.edu/ GSLIS - http://qcgslis.commons.gc.cuny.edu/
But I have been able to get into others. for example - http://latinofacultyinitiativecuny.commons.gc.cuny.edu/

Anyone else seeing this problem?
