Redmine CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #17656 (Duplicate): Zendesk Replacementhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/176562023-02-13T20:16:24Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

Hi Colin - I installed "Hesk" which is open course and totally free. It uses PHP and MySQL, which may make it easy to make little changes if needed. Here is a link - https://scott.reclaim.hosting/helpdesk/. I couldn't quite figure out how to get email configured, but I'm sure the dev team could help with this. I made you an admin of the site. I will send credentials as a one time secret. Maybe we should get Boone to look at the code base and see if it is a worthy candidate?
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #15830 (Resolved): zeemaps embedhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/158302022-04-06T13:34:26Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

Amy Wolfe would like to embed a professor's zeemap. Below is the iframe. Can we set up a custom handler for this? (I checked if the EmbedPress plugin could do this, but it cannot.)

Member Samuel Ghelli wants to use a small audio player on his site rather than the large default player. I spent a long time trying to re-style the default player, but it still doesn't look very good. This simple plugin does the job.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/compact-wp-audio-player/
40,000 installs
4.5 stars
last updated 3 months ago
By Tips and Tricks HQ
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #9053 (Resolved): WPBakery Visual Composer plugin Not Workinghttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/90532018-01-02T20:05:05Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

Hi - After latest update of Bridge theme, it seems that Visual Composer is no longer working. See attached "Update Required" message. It doesn't save changes at all in Firefox, and in Chrome it is very buggy, but ultimately does save changes. Can we update?
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #5569 (Resolved): WP Inventory Manager Add-On - Michael Maddenhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/55692016-05-15T13:54:20Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

We just installed the free WP Inventory Manager plugin and Michael Madden is happy with it. He wants to know if we can also install its $15.00 add-on to enable import/export. - https://www.wpinventory.com/downloads/wp-inventory-import-and-export/
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #4019 (Resolved): WP Site Display Issuehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/40192015-04-23T22:06:26Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

Member Stephen Boatright reports that the display of his site on the Commons has dramatically changed. Wondering if his theme ("Academia") was recently updated? Here is what he reports:

"I am the admin for the site: https://bef2015.commons.gc.cuny.edu, and the display of theme changed recently without my doing anything. Now the header image and background image are distorted and displaced, and the font family has changed. Also, most of the display seems to have a grey flim over it.
I built the site for a conference workshop that will happen at the GC in a few weeks. Is there anything you can see or point me to, so that I can fix it?"
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #2813 (Resolved): WordPress plugin request - MailPoethttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/28132013-10-03T01:27:54Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

- What's the name of the plugin/theme?
MailPoet – aka "wysija" http://wordpress.org/plugins/wysija-newsletters/
- In a few words, what does it do?
Lets admins of a site design and distribute newsletters listing upcoming events, features, announcements, ...
- How is the plugin/theme different from what's already provided on the Commons?
We currently don't have newsletter functionality.
- What's the potential impact? Who will use it?
The Commons Dev team is planning several email blasts –(to CAC members and to CUNY-wide audience) and is looking for alternatives to MailChimp. This seems like it would be also used by other groups as well to reach non-logged in members. Impact = the Commons mail server. Will this negatively impact performance??
- Who initially made the request?
Scott Voth discussed with Community team and the team is looking for feedback from Dev team. The plugin is getting good press, and seems like it would be a good addition to the Commons list of plugins. Also would help in designing new email blasts planned for later this month.

- Who is the plugin author?
http://profiles.wordpress.org/benheu/
http://profiles.wordpress.org/mamaduka/

- Say a little bit about the release history and popularity of the plugin. How many times has it been downloaded? When was it last updated?
The plugin is now in Version 2.58 and receives 5 stars on the WordPress repository. It is actively being supported and has recently changed its name from wysija to MailPoet.
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #2679 (Resolved): WP Post to PDF plugin Logohttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/26792013-07-21T18:06:23Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

The WP Post to PDF plugin was recently added to the Commons. It creates PDFs that have a header and a default logo which on a single site is easy to change. But on the Commons, members do not have access to the folder where the image needs to be uploaded to (...wp-content/uploads/wp-post-to-pdf-logo.png). I know that this issue has been raised by Kimon Keramidas on the plugin's support site - http://wordpress.org/support/topic/header-location-2 - but no solution so far.

I was wondering if, in the meantime, we could replace the default image with some form of the CUNY Academic Commons logo? The default logo, I think is going to keep most members from using the plugin. Or if there is a better solution...

The article in the Codex (http://codex.commons.gc.cuny.edu/2013/07/21/post-to-pdf-plugin/) shows what the generated pdfs look like with the default logo. Pretty unappealing...
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #1656 (Rejected): WordTube Player Still Doesn't Play SWF Files https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/16562012-02-25T21:28:58Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

After the media player was installed this week, WordTube seems to work much better (I can upload SWF files, they appear in the right screens). But when I try to preview a SWF file or play an embedded a SWF file, nothing happens when I click the arrow. I tried an MP3 file and the player played that fine. (This was originally reported by Sarah Ruth Jacobs, and I tried it and got same results.)
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #1645 (Resolved): WordTube Plugin can't find "JW Player" - fails to p...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/16452012-02-21T02:22:34Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

Two members (Rowena Li and Sarah Ruth Jacobs) are looking for a plugin to display their .swf files. The WordTube plugin seems to do the trick, but as installed, can't find its "JW Player" - http://www.longtailvideo.com/ - (some variation of FlashPlayer?).

Does the Commons support this file type? Can we install the JW Player?
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #1310 (Resolved): Zotpresshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/13102011-11-02T02:34:19Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

I think we currently have version 4.2.6 installed on this plugin. Can we upgrade to 4.5.2? I think the new version has a lot of improvements.
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #587 (Resolved): Zotero Plugin - ZotPresshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/5872011-02-16T03:35:29Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

Our "Zotero Feeds" plugin doesn't seem to work (as Maura and I both notice). Can we install a Zotero plugin called"ZotPress" which seems very configurable and works with shortcodes? Thanks.
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/zotpress/
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #437 (Resolved): Wiki not displaying images in newer pageshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/4372010-12-07T04:16:59Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

After 1.1 release, looks like some pages display images correctly, while others don’t. Newer pages seem to display hyperlinks rather than pages, and the hyperlinks don’t link anywhere.

Investigate, and if appropriate, implement two MediaWiki extensions. The first is “Keep Searches” (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:KeepSearches) which addresses Brian's idea of capturing and displaying recent wiki search terms in a cloud. The second would be an interim enhancement to MW search functionality - install a Google search extension http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:GoogleSiteSearch. This may be replaced at a later time by LucentSearch (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Lucene-search).

Here's a listing of MW search extensions, for reference: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Category:Search_extensions
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #299 (Resolved): Wiki Sidebar Search Optionhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/2992010-08-23T23:14:30Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net
