Redmine CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #20062 (Staged for Production Release): Quick Edit Feature Resets Pos...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/200622024-03-26T23:03:59ZZachary Muhlbauer

When I use the Quick Edit option to make changes to an existing post, the author of the post automatically resets to the first individual listed in the site's user list, regardless of who the original author was.

I replicated the issue in Firefox and Safari as well as across multiple themes. I also spoke with another instructor and confirmed that the Quick Edit option resets post authorship for them, too.

It's a nasty little bug if only because determining the original author of certain posts can be tricky and time-consuming when there isn't an available edit history for the post.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #19828 (New): CBOX Classic Possible Bughttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/198282024-02-25T22:54:50Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

Paul Schacht has an academic site at Geneseeo. Looks like on the group sidebar the link to the Group site is not formatted correctly - not going to the group site subdomain. It's acting like the site is not configured as a subdomain.

See https://commonsinabox.org/groups/help-support/forum/topic/group-blog-links-redirect-to-login-page/
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #19289 (New): Help site redesign migrationhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/192892023-11-16T22:57:54Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

The redesigned Help site (https://helpredesign.commons.gc.cuny.edu/) uses the Twenty-twenty two theme and has custom templates and template parts. Would it be possible to copy those DB settings over to the current Help site (https://help.commons.gc.cuny.edu/) without screwing up the existing site's functionality?

If not, what would be the best way to migrate?
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #18739 (New): PDF Embedder Premiumhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/187392023-09-05T17:39:09ZSyelle Graves

We have a quick question about the PDF embedder: Has the Commons team ever considered the paid version? We ask because we have a newsletter with hyperlinks that we can't embed. and it would be great to have that functionality, which I believe the paid plugin has.

The only alternative I know of is to use an embedded Google doc, but we don't do that because we would have to reformat all of our existing PDFs, which we’ve tried and found not worth it (tables and images take forever to convert from Word to gdocs). Anyway, we're just curious in general if the Commons has considered or would consider it, if it's not too expensive!

Hope it's okay to ask. Thank you!
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #18134 (New): Help site redesignhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/181342023-04-28T15:48:14Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

Here is a link to the redesigned Help page that I am working on, using the Twenty-twenty two theme. Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks. https://helpredesign.commons.gc.cuny.edu/
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #17551 (New): Events Calendar viewhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/175512023-01-24T21:44:09Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

When I switch from "List View" to "Calendar View" I get a "Loading" icon spinning around. In debugger seems like some CORS issue.

I wanted to get some screenshots of December events, so I "back arrowed" to December. When I go back to list view everything is fine. But I am still in January, not December.
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #17257 (Reporter Feedback): Avenir Fonthttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/172572022-11-17T16:15:28ZSyelle Graves

Hi Commons Team,

(Marilyn says "Please open up a ticket in Redmine about this.")

We have an important need for a website to be displayed in Avenir font, due to branding reasons for a DOE-funded center. The site was moved over from Wix, where Avenir was a built-in option.

We’re creating the Commons site in Canvas, which has no option for Avenir that we can see.

Is it possible that there is an option to add code to change the site’s font to Avenir? Or, are there any themes on the Commons that have Avenir font built in or allow code to allow it? Montserrat, the recommended alternative via Google fonts, looks noticeably different from our years of existing/already-distributed materials, which we don't have a way to go back in time and change. This includes our banner and logo, which we will have to change to match our (already-designed) site.

Is there anything we can do?
Many thanks!
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #17165 (New): Plugin wpDiscuz: Should we add to the Teaching Plug...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/171652022-11-03T20:35:22Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

This plugin seems to have a lot of nice features for Comments and Discussion, including ways to embed content into comments and text styling. You can even embed videos in comments (but you need to use a shortcode).
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #14629 (Reporter Feedback): Possible Post Order Bug?https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/146292021-07-26T14:58:27ZSyelle Graves

Greetings,

I am noticing something strange about the post order on this site https://8nsshl2021.commons.gc.cuny.edu/
The posts do not seem to show by the expected default order (reverse chronological.)

In addition, when I activate the simple Custom Post Order plugin in an attempt to get the posts to show in the order we want (happens to be alphabetical by title), that solution is also foiled.

I’ve included two screenshots (dashboard and front end).

When I first set these timestamps in order to show the posts alphabetically, the posts did show in the correct order. But since then, they have reverted to an order that looks random.

I attempted to re-create this on a test site, thinking that it might be related to the 2017 theme, but I got mixed results (the "Hello World" post showed at the top, when it should show last, even when I changed themes, which seemed odd, and the rest showed in normal order. Sorry I don't have more info there.)

Let me know if I can provide any additional info/apologies if this is something simple.
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #11624 (New): Change pages into posts or swap database for a Comm...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/116242019-07-08T18:42:52ZStephen KleinSKlein@gc.cuny.edu

Working on our internal site.
Wondering if you could either:

Run this SQL:
UPDATE wp_posts SET post_type = 'post' WHERE post_type = 'page'

for:
https://gclibrarywiki.commons.gc.cuny.edu/

I did this on my own server.

Or if I give you a SQL file, can you swap it for what is already there?

The latter is preferred, because on my own server, I radically re-worked the entire taxonomy.
CUNY Academic Commons - Design/UX #10439 (New): Create Style Guide for Commonshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/104392018-10-04T21:39:03ZSonja Leix

Create a style guide for CUNY Academic Commons to compiles all the site's design elements like typography, link, and button styles, color scheme, consistent padding/margin, etc.

This will help us design more consistently in the future, it will also help the developers to have a reference for implementation. It will be a base to achieve more design consistency across the site and aid as a style library for a potential future redesign.

It will be a living guide and after initial design and internal sign off we should consider creating an HTML style guide. It can live on Github and can be updated over time.
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #10368 (Assigned): Use ORCID data to populate academic profile pagehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/103682018-09-21T20:22:55ZStephen Francoeurstephen.francoeur@baruch.cuny.edu

As discussed at today's CUNY CAT meeting, it would be great if the new profile page template that is in the works could pull your publication data from ORCID.
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #10226 (New): Add "My Courses" to drop down listhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/102262018-08-26T19:55:18Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

A suggestion from the last CAC meeting - can we add "My Courses" to the "My" dropdown menu? For a professor or student, it would show only his or her courses, perhaps divided between current and past. This would help site navigation.
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #9643 (New): Create a page on the Commons for logos etc.https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/96432018-04-20T17:56:42ZStephen Realsbrnlb@gmail.comCUNY Academic Commons - Bug #8440 (New): Create Test Email Accounts for Onboarding Projecthttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/84402017-07-26T11:05:46ZStephen Realsbrnlb@gmail.com

This issue is intended to ensure that we don't forget to create a bunch (not sure how big a bunch is) of test email accounts that we can "invite" to join the commons when testing the upcoming revised Onboarding process.
