Related to the invite modal update (#19733) and Raffi's question about CUNYFirst SSO (#19878), I was wondering if we should consider allowing the @login.cuny.edu domain now for Commons registration. See the attached screenshot for what you get now when trying to register with that domain.

I mentioned this on the dev call earlier, and we used to reject this domain because first.last##@login.cuny.edu used to be a username and not an actual email, but now I think that's changed. My @login.cuny.edu now forwards to my GC email inbox, for one.

Marilyn/Scott or others, do you have thoughts on this? Might allowing that domain cut down on support confusion?
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #19550 (Assigned): A few issues/questions around CV editorhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/195502024-01-18T17:19:39ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

Hi All -- I just made some updates to my CV, which worked well! I have some questions, though:

1. I added a cover image and now want to remove it. However, I'm unable to get my cursor focus to be on the modal, so I can't scroll to see the options to remove the cover image. When I scroll, the background of the page moves, but I can't adjust the modal to the point where I can see any options. Screenshot attached and I can create a video if needed

2. after I updated my CV (I had one in the system previously), many content blocks were noted as problematic and I was asked to try to attempt recovery. Is this expected behavior? Screenshot attached.

Shouldn't I only be required to enter the OTP when the machine ID changes (using a different or upgraded browser).
Hi All,

We are getting a few messages on zendesk about the Commons being down. I am not seeing any issues site wide however one message was about the Segal center website:

https://thesegalcenter.org/

I am getting the "The CUNY Academic Commons is experiencing technical problems. For more details, visit the Commons status blog"
when I visit this mapped domain.

Can you provide insight and/or help resolve this?

Syelle Graves reports:

We have a hopefully-simple question about a Gravity form that uses the post creation option on this site https://weauthors.commons.gc.cuny.edu/category/spanish/

The problem is that even though we have the submitted image set to be the featured image of the post draft, the image never appears in the post itself: https://weauthors.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/admin.php?page=gf_edit_forms&id=1 (https://weauthors.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/admin.php?page=gf_edit_forms&id=1)

I have ignored this for some time, because on the BMCC OL, where I also work, we have observed this to be a bug in this same theme that we are using here on the Commons site (Customizr).

However, perhaps your team has a solve? Is there any way to get the image to show in the post tile without us adding it manually? We are doing a large-scale project of CUNY student writing, and it would be a huge benefit to our instructors who have to publish hundreds of student submissions by hand as they come in.

Many thanks!

Hi there,

Hope you are all doing well!

The Digital Fellows are updating the gcdri.commons.gc.cuny.edu website, and we added a "Read More" tag on the following page (https://gcdri.commons.gc.cuny.edu/january-2022-workshops/), but this tag is not appearing on the published page. We've tried different browsers, etc...but we are not able to see it. Do you have an idea of why this might be happening?

Thank you so much for your help!

Best,

Hi All,

I made a test course with the teaching template a few weeks ago called 'author name test". It was added to the courses list and I think it should be removed but I do not know how to remove it. I tried changing the "purpose" of the site but it remains in the courses tab list.

Should we have a way to remove courses from this list in case someone uses the teaching template but is not actually using the site for a course? Or should sites be removed from this list if the purpose is changed?
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #9729 (New): 503 Errors showing on newlaborforum.cuny.eduhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/97292018-05-08T12:46:01ZDiane Krauthamer

Hi there - newlaborforum.cuny.edu is generating a lot of 503 errors, causing issues with the crawl. I seemed to temporarily resolve this issue by deactivating the Jetpack plugin, but now it appears to be a server issue perhaps. I have attached a screenshot of how these errors appear on a recent crawl report.
Any assistance with resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #6671 (Assigned): "Post too often" RBE error messagehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/66712016-11-11T14:55:22ZMatt Goldmattgold@gmail.com

I sent a reply by email to the CAC group just now. The message posted, but I also received an error message by email -- please see attached
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #5827 (Assigned): Academic Interests square bracket links not workinghttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/58272016-07-23T18:29:11Zscott vothscott.voth@verizon.net

It looks like the [interests] are not getting translated to hyperlinks on the profile page.
I have a private paper on social paper. To save it, I have to press "publish." That seems a little counterintuitive. I had to do a double take to make sure that the paper was indeed private.
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #3330 (Assigned): "Commons Information" toolhttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/33302014-07-16T17:52:38ZBoone Gorgesboone@gorg.es

See #2945 and http://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/attachments/download/1293/Commons-PersonalHomepage-Options-v3.pdf

We need a plugin that will power the Commons Information section of the profile and personal home page. Based on the wireframes and team discussions, I'm going to suggest the following for the first iteration (keeping in mind that we can add fancy stuff in the future):

- New custom post type: "Commons Information". Available to Editors and Administrators (current_user_can( 'edit_others_posts' ))
- The Commons Information "widget" won't really be a widget, but just a function that spits out some markup
- Widget should just show the most recent item + featured image. Mockup doesn't show titles, but I imagine we'll want them - right below where the image appears
- The 'show more' link at the bottom will fade the content of the widget, send an AJAX request, and show the next item (and cycle back to the first one when done). Don't show the 'view more' link on noscript.

Chris, feel free to chime in with additional thoughts or suggestions.

Dan, are you up for the challenge? :) It's a bit tricky because you'll have to develop it in isolation (you won't be able to put it in its proper place in the theme yet because that place doesn't exist yet; see #3329), but I don't think that'll be a serious problem. Let me know what you think, or if I can help get you started somehow.
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #481 (Assigned): ability to archive inactive groups and blogshttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/4812010-12-14T16:06:34ZMichael Mandibergmichael.mandiberg@csi.cuny.edu

After using the Commons for a year or so, about half of the groups and blogs I am in are now dormant. They were created for working groups, or classes, or other fixed-period endeavors. The result is that my dropdown menu is pretty cluttered. A number of times I have clicked into the wrong long-dormant blog, and posted there (awk). I don't want to un-join the groups/blogs b/c I will loose access to the info in there, but I would like to be able to archive them so they don't show up in the drop down menu. Or there could be a menu item at the bottom that said "archived groups." Just a thought about interface.
