When I use the Quick Edit option to make changes to an existing post, the author of the post automatically resets to the first individual listed in the site's user list, regardless of who the original author was.

I replicated the issue in Firefox and Safari as well as across multiple themes. I also spoke with another instructor and confirmed that the Quick Edit option resets post authorship for them, too.

It's a nasty little bug if only because determining the original author of certain posts can be tricky and time-consuming when there isn't an available edit history for the post.
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #19903 (Reporter Feedback): Accepting "login.cuny.edu" domain for...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/199032024-03-05T21:56:47ZColin McDonald

Related to the invite modal update (#19733) and Raffi's question about CUNYFirst SSO (#19878), I was wondering if we should consider allowing the @login.cuny.edu domain now for Commons registration. See the attached screenshot for what you get now when trying to register with that domain.

I mentioned this on the dev call earlier, and we used to reject this domain because first.last##@login.cuny.edu used to be a username and not an actual email, but now I think that's changed. My @login.cuny.edu now forwards to my GC email inbox, for one.

Marilyn/Scott or others, do you have thoughts on this? Might allowing that domain cut down on support confusion?
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #17739 (Testing Required): Embedding docs from Word in Microsoft ...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/177392023-02-28T17:06:40ZLaurie Hurson

Hi All,

As you may or may not know, CUNY has been transitioning all faculty, staff, and students to Microsoft Office 365 cloud. So instead of having Microsoft Office software, everyone now gets these tools and saves docs etc in the 365 cloud.

Someone in a training asked about embedding the Live cloud-hosted word docs into a commons site, similar to how Google docs works, so that when they update their Word doc the commons embed is also updated. This is different from how Word and the Commons works now, where faculty have to upload the static document.

Some examples of sharing links from a test cloud-hosted word doc:

Hi All,

A user is trying to use the hyper audio plugin and soundcloud audio links. They are experiencing issues with this plugin and included the attached screenshot) (waiting for more info)

I also test this plugin with soundcloud audio here: https://classtestbmcc.commons.gc.cuny.edu/hyperaudio-test/

I am unable to make the audio play when trying to use the plugin with Soundcloud, and I am unable to make a YouTube video play because it required the iframe embed code, which is stripped out.

Would it be possible to make this plugin functional with Soundcloud audio and YouTube videos? This plugin would be great for accessibility purposes and adding transcripts to audio and video

Hi All,

I have a faculty member teaching a completely online, OER course this Fall with a connected group - site. She wants students to join the group to be automatically added to the site, and also so that she can email the class through the Commons. Students will be posting on the site blog sometimes. The professor will also post on the site blog to share announcements and updates.

Ideal situation: The professor would prefer if only admin posts were sent to the forum for dissemination via email.

As it stands with group-site functionality currently, every site post is auto sent to the group forum. There is a way to de-select/un-check "send to group blog" but it is unreasonable to assume that every student will remember to un-check this box every time.

So my questions:
- Is it possible to make the "send to group blog" by default "off" aka de-selected? This way the professor could just select or check the box when posting their own posts. I didn't see any options in the site settings to adjust this function, maybe because it is run by buddy press?
- Is there a way to set it up so that site admins can determine which user roles' posts are sent to group forum (aka only admin posts vs admins + authors + all users)?
- If not possible universally, could we trial run it on this site&group? (this seems unlikely but figured I would ask.)

Let me know if this makes sense and/or if more clarification and info is needed.

Maybe this site blog to group forum connection functionality is something we discuss in fall development conversation if we plan to tackle group interface this year.
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #16545 (Reporter Feedback): "Bug in customizr?
Syelle Graves reports:

We have a hopefully-simple question about a Gravity form that uses the post creation option on this site https://weauthors.commons.gc.cuny.edu/category/spanish/

The problem is that even though we have the submitted image set to be the featured image of the post draft, the image never appears in the post itself: https://weauthors.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/admin.php?page=gf_edit_forms&id=1 (https://weauthors.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/admin.php?page=gf_edit_forms&id=1)

I have ignored this for some time, because on the BMCC OL, where I also work, we have observed this to be a bug in this same theme that we are using here on the Commons site (Customizr).

However, perhaps your team has a solve? Is there any way to get the image to show in the post tile without us adding it manually? We are doing a large-scale project of CUNY student writing, and it would be a huge benefit to our instructors who have to publish hundreds of student submissions by hand as they come in.

Many thanks!

Hi All,

The release of the OER tag and the Open Education institute I ran in June has highlighted some issues with the Creative Commons license widget we are running on the commons, particularly on sites.

By default, every page of every site site is tagged with a CC license. I think we should revisit that. People may want some of their content openly licensed but not all of it. For example, Raffi Khatchadourian wrote to the Zendesk asking how to list some of his pages on his main site as oer but not all of the pages. Currently this is not really possible - the CC license is only available on a page by page basis or it encompasses the whole site. I am proposing we allow CC for some pages and no clear open license on other pages (hence signifying they are not open).

I think the automatic, by default tagging of every page as CC, regardless of whether a user has chosen the CC license knowingly, is an issue.

This also raises questions about creating an option to allows folks to restrict some of their work. Maybe we don't want to provide a "closed" option but this could also occur through simply not applying a CC license by default to every page and allowing a user to knowingly assign the CC license to only "open" content.

I think all of these issues, ideas, and options warrant a discussion, which hopefully we can pick up in the fall.
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #15516 (Reporter Feedback): Can't publish or save draft of post on wo...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/155162022-03-02T20:35:35ZRaffi Khatchadourianraffi.khatchadourian@hunter.cuny.edu

I'd like to do a review over the next few releases of blacklisted plugins. These are plugins that are unavailable on Dashboard > Plugins, but may still be running on existing sites. For those that are running only on a small handful of sites, it may be worth removing the plugin from the codebase altogether. This data will take some time to collect.
