Redmine CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #20062 (Staged for Production Release): Quick Edit Feature Resets Pos...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/200622024-03-26T23:03:59ZZachary Muhlbauer

When I use the Quick Edit option to make changes to an existing post, the author of the post automatically resets to the first individual listed in the site's user list, regardless of who the original author was.

I replicated the issue in Firefox and Safari as well as across multiple themes. I also spoke with another instructor and confirmed that the Quick Edit option resets post authorship for them, too.

It's a nasty little bug if only because determining the original author of certain posts can be tricky and time-consuming when there isn't an available edit history for the post.
CUNY Academic Commons - Feature #17739 (Testing Required): Embedding docs from Word in Microsoft ...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/177392023-02-28T17:06:40ZLaurie Hurson

Hi All,

As you may or may not know, CUNY has been transitioning all faculty, staff, and students to Microsoft Office 365 cloud. So instead of having Microsoft Office software, everyone now gets these tools and saves docs etc in the 365 cloud.

Someone in a training asked about embedding the Live cloud-hosted word docs into a commons site, similar to how Google docs works, so that when they update their Word doc the commons embed is also updated. This is different from how Word and the Commons works now, where faculty have to upload the static document.

Some examples of sharing links from a test cloud-hosted word doc:

Hi All,

A user is trying to use the hyper audio plugin and soundcloud audio links. They are experiencing issues with this plugin and included the attached screenshot) (waiting for more info)

I also test this plugin with soundcloud audio here: https://classtestbmcc.commons.gc.cuny.edu/hyperaudio-test/

I am unable to make the audio play when trying to use the plugin with Soundcloud, and I am unable to make a YouTube video play because it required the iframe embed code, which is stripped out.

Would it be possible to make this plugin functional with Soundcloud audio and YouTube videos? This plugin would be great for accessibility purposes and adding transcripts to audio and video

Hi All,

I was on a meeting this morning where the user was sharing her screen.

User: https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/members/towallp/

Site: https://towallp.commons.gc.cuny.edu/

A couple issues here:

1. The user has no "my sites" tab on "Sites" page when logged in
2. Site does not come up as linked to users account
3. Site is not returned in search in sites directory

I am not sure what is going on here but I think there is a bug somewhere in the linking of the site and user.

Hi All,

I met with a faculty member who runs the Lehman Lab for Social Analysis: https://www.lehmanlab.org/

She would like to move the Lehman Lab site onto Commons along with several of the websites for the courses the lab offers, linked below

https://www.lehman-guns-research.org/

https://nycethnography.weebly.com/

https://foodhealthmigrationlehman.weebly.com/

These 4 sites are on Weebly currently but she would like to move them over to the Commons so they can be further built out and used each semester, in tandem with the courses that will now also run on the Commons.

I have looked online for various methods of exporting Weebly to Wordpress but the exporter that is out there (https://weeblytowp.com/) does work in this case because the site are all pages, not blogs.

There seems to be another method for moving to WordPress that involves exporting an HTML archive of the site and then uploading HTML archive to Wordpress. However, I do not believe we have a way to upload HTML archives to the Commons (I think this is a security issue).

Moving these sites to the Commons will be a one time thing since, once they are on the Commons she will continue building out the sites in the CAC space.

Any suggestions for how we might export/import these Weebly sites onto Commmons (preferably avoiding a manual copy/paste method, if possible)?
CUNY Academic Commons - Bug #14483 (Reporter Feedback): Wordpress PDF Embed Stopped Working after...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/144832021-05-20T15:42:44ZPatrick DeDauw

Hi Boone,

Thanks so much for your help on the JITP library transfer—everything went great with the issue launch, and I really appreciate how quickly you fixed the redirect hiccup.

We have noticed that our pdf embedder on the page below has started turning up "Failed to Fetch" errors when viewed in Chrome, though not in Safari. I tried re-uploading the pdfs and changing the links, in case it was an issue of the Media Library clone, but found it still not working. I've since tried a few variations (adding www. to the pdf url, trying http://) to no avail.

Hi All,

I was working with a professor who created a linked group site. Students used the group forum for discussion and will be submitting work via private posts. This professor wants to spaces linked so that students roles are synced and there is an easy way to navigate between the spaces but does not want the posts from the site to go to the group.

This professor wants to keep the group site linked but wants to bulk/default turn off the post-to-group-forum feature between the site and the group. I know this can be turned off on a post-by-post basis but it seems there is nowhere to turn off the post->forum connection if the group and site are connected?

I told her she could un-link group and site after students had joined to guarantee that posts do not accidentally get sent to the group but we might also think about creating a way to toggle the default post->group forum feed.
AD/O365 Transition from NonMatric to Matriculated Students - Feature #12062 (In Progress): creat...https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/120622019-11-12T20:50:21ZEmilio RodriguezCUNY Academic Commons - Bug #11649 (In Progress): CC license displayed on every pagehttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/116492019-07-18T16:03:33ZGina Cherry

I'd like to do a review over the next few releases of blacklisted plugins. These are plugins that are unavailable on Dashboard > Plugins, but may still be running on existing sites. For those that are running only on a small handful of sites, it may be worth removing the plugin from the codebase altogether. This data will take some time to collect.

When Jessica Murray, a CAC user, goes to the dashboard of her website on the Commons, she sees only 20 or so themes, even though we have 50-odd themes available. Luke and I are meeting her and she showed us what she is seeing.

Luke just advised her to do a hard-refresh, and that solved the problems, but it worries me a bit that she would have to do a hard refresh to see the full list of themes available.
Received a bunch of requests to join a private group today, and some users included notes. When I went to the approval screen (Group Home page > Admin > Requests) the "Accept" button and the text of the message were overlaid on top of one another. We should clean up the display here so that the text can be read.
