I looked out of curiosity - it seems to be dead: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/add-users-sidebar-widget/
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #13935: Add Users sidebar widget not workinghttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/13935?journal_id=584062021-02-04T03:58:05ZMarilyn WeberMweber@gc.cuny.edu

Priority name changed from Normal to Low

I've advised Prof. Shaw to use our invite portal, and gave her the nonCUNY instructions. She seems fine with it. Changing this to low priority.
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #13935: Add Users sidebar widget not workinghttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/13935?journal_id=584152021-02-04T15:24:57ZBoone Gorgesboone@gorg.es

If the plugin isn't working, and since we have our Invitation tool, let's hide the old plugin from users: https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/0053653b91a5edd6d42d75d5b9ef77d0af9e5762 At some point in the future, we can evaluate whether it's worth removing from the Commons altogether.
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #13935: Add Users sidebar widget not workinghttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/13935?journal_id=584472021-02-04T23:52:22ZRaymond Hoh

Marilyn, there's also another option.

We added the ability for users to add themselves to a site in <a class="issue tracker-2 status-5 priority-4 priority-default closed" title="Feature: Add "Request to Join this Site" button? (Resolved)" href="https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/11201">#11201.

The site admin can activate the "WP MS Request Membership" plugin and add the "Request Membership" widget to the widget sidebar.

Here's the ticket where this was implemented: https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/11201#note-15. View the last picture in that post to see the widget's settings. Other images in that thread include the admin settings page and the "Users > Pending" management page if the auto-join option is turned off.

Not sure if we added this to the documentation site or not.
CUNY Academic Commons - Support #13935: Add Users sidebar widget not workinghttps://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/13935?journal_id=585382021-02-09T16:05:56ZBoone Gorgesboone@gorg.es
