Bug #4158
closedCan't upload avatar

Description
It looks like there may be some kind of bug preventing users from uploading an avatar. A member just reached out to me to let me know that she couldn't upload it and after testing on my own profile, I can confirm the issue. For me, it reverted back to my last avatar. I tried again and cropped the image, but it still wouldn't take.

Hi Sarah - I was just able to change the profile photo of teststudent without a problem. Here's what I did:
1. Using the menu at the upper right, go to My Profile > Change Profile Photo (http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/members/teststudent/profile/change-avatar/)
2. Select "Choose File" to browse to the photo to upload
3. Click the Upload File button
4. The page reloads. Scroll down to see the crop tool.
5. Adjust the crop box and click Crop Image
6. New avatar is saved
Can you please let me know whether this matches the steps you took? If it does not, please give specific details, akin to the ones I've given above, that describe the steps you took and what you saw as a result. Thanks.

I tried that exact process yesterday and it didn't work. The image was already at max size so I didn't need to crop anything, but I still selected Crop Image and nothing happened. I tried again just now on another computer and it worked, but I was using a larger image. Should I ask her to send me the image?

Sure, Sarah - if you can get a copy of the picture, it may be helpful.
If you manage to find a machine where this problem can consistently be reproduced, please send me as many details as you can about the OS/browser config.

Cool, let's chalk it up to a glitch.
