Description
Hi Moe - I've opened this ticket to show you the normal protocol for providing custom theme files.
The next scheduled Commons release is Tuesday, September 11 (the second Tuesday of September). See https://dev.commons.gc.cuny.edu/hosting-partner-handbook/ and https://dev.commons.gc.cuny.edu/release-schedule-and-procedures/ I've slated the theme to be included in that release. After the release, I'll enable the theme for prelude18.commons, and you'll then be able to activate it there.

So as I am trying to copy the website on the Commons, I am realizing that some elements (post types to be specific) are not transferring. Could the reason be that the plugins that I activated on Commons are older / different than what Alex had installed on Segal Digital Center?
Is that possible for you to give me access to Advanced Custom Fields Pro (Version 5.3.6.1) plugin?
Also, can you please map preludenyc.org to https://preludenyc18.commons.gc.cuny.edu/home/
thanks

Hi Moe - I have granted access to Advanced Custom Fields Pro to preludenyc18.commons. You should now be able to see it in Dashboard > Plugins. https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/0899f5900b4470f282a7fa4c4a2ccc94b648bd19. The version running on the Commons is 5.7.2; we're unable to run older versions. I'm unsure whether having this activated will fix the missing elements - let me know.
I've switched the mapping of preludenyc.org to preludenyc18.commons. Note that I'm unable to map to a subpage like /home/, but it looks like you've got the site configured in such a way that the 'home' page appears at the subdomain root.

Hi Boone,
Thanks for the help so far.
For some reason I cannot find Advanced Custom Fields Pro in my Dashboard > Plugins. Should I give it a bit more time?
Also, as you said I thought I had configured the site in such a way that the 'home' page appears at the subdomain root, but apparently that is not the case and right now preludenyc.org is showing an unready default homepage that I do not know how to get rid of! Sorry this process is shattering the understanding that I thought I had of Wordpress! Do you have any idea why things are working so weird here?
Thanks again for being here

There may've been a temporary caching issue that prevented you from seeing ACF Pro. It's there now, and I've activated it.
Regarding your home page, I'd suggest that you set your "Homepage" to a static page, and that the static page be powered by your "splash" template. See attached screenshot, where you'll see the sort of settings I suggest. It appears that these precise settings don't work exactly the way you'd expect with the current theme config, perhaps because of the way your template-Splash.php and front-page.php are interacting with each other.
If you can't make the necessary changes to your theme, you might consider activating the Redirection plugin, and configuring it so that anyone other than site admins will be redirected to the /home/ page.

Thank you thank you.
The redirection plugin worked :) I will work with the newly installed Advanced Costume Fields Pro plugin and touch base with you tomorrow morning.
Enjoy the rest of your day

Hi Boone,
Happy Thursday.
Advanced Costume Fields Pro seems to be working great! thanks for that.
However, the redirection situation is confusing my colleagues who want to populate the website and check the homepage over and over. I really need to work on the templates. Besides that, our curator wants some change and there is some design bugs I should take care of in the theme. It seems like I need to do some CSS and PHP.
Is it possible to update the Theme?
Sorry if this is getting annoying. Knowing the things I know now, I should have planned this process differently. Will do so in the future.
Thanks again

Yes, if you make the updates to the theme and pass the theme to me, I can make the updates. It's easiest for me if you create a zip and then post it as an attachment here on Redmine - could I ask you to do that?

yes definitely.
:)
Thank you.
I will finish and check with them later today and send you the zip file tomorrow morning. Do you work on Fridays?
