Bug #12738
closedAdding gallery causes This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed
0%
Description
I am trying to help a colleague with her online teaching platform for final projects. She wants students to add a "Gallery" block in Gutenberg posts but every time I try to add one, I encounter "This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed."
This is for the following site:
https://mdewardsdra225.commons.gc.cuny.edu/
I have attempted to solve the issue:
- I have disabled any privacy plugins in my browser.
- I have searched Google for help but nothing appears to apply (or is too old and not the version of WP installed here).

Hi Kalle,
Thamks for the video. The problem is being caused by the "Group Events Shortcode and Widget" plugin. I know the problem, but it'll take me a bit to fix it up for a maintenance release.
Can you disable that plugin in the meantime?
Update - Looks like the plugin is network-activated and you cannot disable that plugin. I'll look into addressing this.

- Status changed from New to Resolved
The issue is due to the Shortcode UI plugin and an incompatibility with the Block Editor.
I've added a hotfix for this here - https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/b2aef157f546f9ecb0856ccb9d9d43827f1d8bda.
This is deployed on production.
Kalle, I tested the mdewardsdra225
site and I can confirm that the Gallery block is rendering again.

How strange. I tried it just now, and it didn't work. Tried to log out and log back in again, and the problem persists (see video attached).

Hi Kalle, can you try purging your browser cache?

Thank you! Tried an "incognito" window in Chrome and then also force reloading in the regular window, and both worked.
