Description

Hello, I am reaching out to report a problem on the "customize" page for sociology.commons.gc.cuny.edu.

I have the PressForward theme installed on my site, which used to have several panels (blocks 1-5, colors, fonts...) on the customize page. However, I am only seeing the widget panel right now. I first noticed this issue on Sept. 25, and I found out that the same issue is present on other Commons site with the PressForward theme.

I cannot remember the exact date, but I think the customize page was working fine 3 weeks ago. Have there been any updates or changes made on the Commons which potentially caused the issue during the past few weeks? Please advise. Thank you.

Best,
Sage (PhD Program in Sociology)

FYI, here is the link to the PressForward Penal Options: [[https://github.com/PressForward/pressforward-turnkey-theme/wiki/PressForward-Theme-Options]]

  • Category name set to WordPress Themes
  • Status changed from New to Staged for Production Release
  • Target version set to 1.17.5

Thanks for the report and for your patience as our team investigated.

It appears that the pressforward-turnkey-theme uses a library called kirki which is incompatible with WordPress 5.5+. The Commons upgraded to this version of WP in the last update, which is why you see the behavior in question.

I've updated the library and it will be part of the 1.17.5 release later this morning.
