Description
QUESTIONS FOR THE PERSON REQUESTING THE PLUGIN/THEME
What's the name of the plugin/theme?
ACF Views/Advanced Views Framework - https://wordpress.org/plugins/acf-views/
[plugins] In a few words, what does it do?
Allows custom fields to be displayed using a shortcode.
How is the plugin/theme different from what's already provided on the Commons?
The Commons provides great support for creating custom fields, but there is currently no way to have those fields be displayed on posts or pages. Most Commons users don’t have permissions to edit their theme’s PHP, and Advanced Custom Fields has blocked users from using a shortcode to display their custom fields since release version 6.3.0. The Commons is currently on ACF version 6.3.4.
What's the potential impact? Who will use it?
The potential impact is extensive. I’m currently building several sites for the Macaulay Honors College on the Commons, which will be used by hundreds of students each year, for which we need to use custom fields. In addition, anyone who wants to use custom fields on the Commons has no way of displaying them, so this would directly impact anyone who uses Advanced Custom Fields already.
Who initially made the request?
I, Joseph Pentangelo, am making the request. This plugin was brought to my attention by Scott Voth, who helped me troubleshoot displaying custom fields, and who tried the plugin out on his own local WP install and found it to work well.
Who is the plugin author?
WPLake.
Say a little bit about the release history and popularity of the plugin. How many times has it been downloaded? When was it last updated? [The idea behind these last two questions is that I'm more likely to look favorably on plugins that are less likely to be abandoned]
It is currently on release version 3.7.2. It was last updated one week ago. It has over 2,000 downloads.
