Description

Via Keeping:

For the past few months, we have not been able to upload any images to our site's pages, though we can upload to our site's library. The images will not insert to our posts.

Gender and Transformation in Central-Eastern Europe and Eurasia Workshop (cuny.edu)

The error message currently is that it has an empty alt attribute. I understand that this is a question of accessibility and alternative text, but do not know how to fix. Could you please let us know?

In most cases, what we are uploading is a head shot of a speaker.

Sincere thanks,
Mara

The problem is not with the alt text - this is a red herring that exposes a separate problem.

Upload URLs for this site https://ceeegender.commons.gc.cuny.edu/ were being redirected to https://genderwkshtr.commons.gc.cuny.edu/. I have a hunch for why this might have been happening, but could I get the user first to confirm that this the ceeegender site was created as a clone of the genderwkshtr site? This will help me debug further.

In the meantime, I've triggered this redirect to be disabled by toggling the site privacy (https://ceeegender.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/options-reading.php). This causes the deletion and regeneration of the .htaccess file that's causing the problem. Images should now be resolving properly and the user should be able to insert, though it might be necessary to clear the browser cache in order to see all existing images in the Media Library.

They reply:

"Yes, the ceeegender was a clone and is also the current site.

The other address could be deleted."

  • Status changed from New to Staged for Production Release
  • Target version set to 2.4.9

Thanks for confirming.

I've added a step to the site cloning process that should prevent this problem in the future. See https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/b23adbde2ede200624af7a885e55cda7e85b11e4

For the current site, the issue should be resolved after I toggled the value of blog_public.

I did not delete the other site - I'll leave that to the user if they see fit.
