Description
I think it's time to make a few changes to our Domain Mapping documentation:
https://help.commons.gc.cuny.edu/domain-mapping-commons/
We can take down the red migration notice and explain that mapping is available again (do we have anyone who's been waiting on this?). I've confirmed with Reclaim that we can change our CNAME record directions to point to mapped-domains.commons.gc.cuny.edu and A record to 15.204.146.102, then the user should let us know when that pointing is complete. CNAME is still preferable to A record. This will cause the site to go down temporarily.
If the use wants www.mappeddomain.com to work the same as mappeddomain.com, they should set up a separate CNAME/A record with 'www' as the name or value instead of '@' for the root domain.
At that point, it's on us to put in a Reclaim ticket by emailing support@reclaimhosting.com, letting them know about the newly pointed record(s) and asking them to issue a security certificate. Then the site will start working again, and we can let the user know.
We should also update the last paragraph on that Help page about logging in to a mapped domain, to match the changes made in #21797. You can log in using the toolbar at the top of a mapped domain, or you can go to wp-admin etc, but you then have to go back to My Sites on the Commons or the toolbar to actually navigate to the backend dashboard. Ray has some testing steps listed out in the ticket if you want to try them before finalizing the explanation.

- Status changed from New to Resolved
Thanks Scott, this looks good. I logged in and changed the CNAME required URL from "commons.gc.cuny.edu" to "mapped-domains.commons.gc.cuny.edu" and we should be good from here. Marking as resolved.
