Description

The CPCP Website is migrating off the Commons. The URL is: pcp.gc.cuny.edu . They want to retain the Commons site post migration but keep it private. Who controls the registrar for gc.cuny.edu? It seems they need to remove the 2 cname records and replace with their new information. See dns records attached. And on our side, we need to contact Reclaim

The best point of contact for changing the pcp.gc.cuny.edu DNS is . GC IT may want some sort of verification that the user is authorized to request a change, so it might make sense to email from an institutional email address.

Once the domain is no longer pointed at the Commons, we'll need to do two things on the Commons end:

1. Remove the domain alias in WordPress. This is a task for me or for Ray. Once this happens, the Commons subsite will be available at the non-mapped domain https://cpcp.commons.gc.cuny.edu. If the CPCP team wants to make the site private or export the content, they can do so by using the tools at that URL.

2. Contact Reclaim to remove the Cloudflare mapping. This is not critical - once the CNAME record for pcp.gc.cuny.edu is removed by the Graduate Center, the corresponding entries at Reclaim will become harmless orphans. But it's probably good for the purposes of completeness to have the mappings removed anyway.

I guess I'd recommend that the domain owners get their house in order and have the GC DNS changes made first. Once that's done, let me know, and I can start on these other two items.

Thanks Boone. It looks like their migration is complete - see pcp.gc.cuny.edu - and we can complete the work on our side.

I've removed the mapping within WordPress, and the site can now be accessed at https://cpcp.commons.gc.cuny.edu/. The team may want to consider making the site private (https://cpcp.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/options-reading.php) to avoid confusion with the new site.

I'll reach out to Reclaim about removing the mapping on their end. But I think that we can consider this ticket resolved.
