Description
The GSLIS720 site is currently running the Atahualpa theme. That theme is starting to show its age and is going to be eventually retired. This issue will discuss new alternatives as a replacement.
The top priority is to find a responsive theme that incorporates the latest enhancements to the WordPress core while also offering advanced CSS and layout customization.

Rowena,
I've looked through all of the themes currently installed on The Commons as well as quite a few that aren't installed.
I'd like to first recommend an existing theme. It's called Aware. It is a beautiful white, clean and minimalistic theme that I think will really give more focus to your content. Because it's already installed it'll be easier to enable and start the configuration.
In addition to the reasons I've just stated, I also think this theme serves an additional purpose. As a professor of web development, I believe your course site should display some of the more advanced features available to a web developer. This theme uses HTML5 and CSS3 to create a very clean example of what those newer technologies can offer. It makes use of CSS3's transitions and HTML5's advanced SEO functionality, just to name a few. It is also a responsive theme so your students can visit it just as easily from their phones and tablets as they can from their desktops and laptops.
If you would like me to enable the theme and start some of the configuration just let me know; I'd be more than happy to get the ball rolling for you. If you don't like this theme, I will continue my search and find something more appropriate. If this is the case, let me know why this theme doesn't work for you and more specifically what you're looking for.
You can see a demo of the theme in action here: http://themewich.com/themes/?theme=Aware(Responsive)

Rowena,
I'm moving this issue to the "Not Tracked" target version while you look into new themes. There's no reason to keep bumping the release target three times a month while you're investigating. Once you've decided on a new theme we'll move this back into an appropriate release target and finish up the work.
I hope you're having a great summer so far and I look forward to hearing from you whenever you're ready to continue this.

Hi Dominic,
I am looking at the new theme Aware, but I cannot find it. Is it still listed?
Thanks.

I just double checked and Aware has been enabled for use with your site. You should be able to find and activate the theme by going to Appearance->Themes in your WP Admin left hand fly-out menu and then searching for Aware. If it helps, first log in to you Dashboard and then try going to this URL directly:

Please let me know if you still can't see it. I've attached a screenshot of your admin page where I've searched for and found Aware.

Thanks, Dominic. I can see it now when I am in gslis720 dashboard. Could you please add this Aware theme to another blog of mine - Remix in tech and teaching? I would like to try it out before I use it on that teaching blog. Thanks.
