Description

We spoke in our last monthly meeting about exploring improvements to the forum post editor, particularly the possibility of utilizing block editor functionality there like we were able to with the CV editor.

Jeremy, I'm tentatively assigning this to you, but it would be great if we can all brainstorm further here, discuss what makes sense to pursue, and put a plan together. A few other ideas that have come up:

- The current editing view doesn't do a great job of previewing the actual formatting that posts will have.
- Currently, the available screen real estate of the editor is pretty limited by default, and you have to know to click and drag the bottom-right corner to expand it (thanks Zach for pointing this out).
- Let's make sure that the email formatting is consistent, perhaps by limiting the available blocks/features in the editor so posts are simpler and easier to display well.

Thanks Colin for opening this ticket and thanks in advance to Jeremy for exploring the possibilities here. While we're working on this feature, I should note that I've lost my progress a few times while drafting forum posts — either by accidentally swiping back a page, closing the window, or leaving a draft open long enough that the submission request becomes stale — in which case draft recovery might also be worth considering as part of the revamp. Could existing autosave utilities on WordPress support draft recovery for forum posts, even initially within the same browser session?
