Closest existing tool I could find is https://github.com/thegcat/redmine_ical. Needs more research.

I am not sure what the driver behind this was, but given the current state, I would recommend closing this ticket.

Yeah, that's fine. Let's close it, with the caveat that in the case we ever move to our own installation of Redmine, we should go through rejected tickets in the Redmine category and reassess.
