Description

User Ryan Seslow writes:
"I have a good working knowledge of html and css. A big part of my site via the commons is to share tutorials on generating Internet Art. Most of my examples are url co-dependent so it would be nice to embed them into iframes. As you mentioned, you will not support iframe, I understand as it puts potential malicious code risks at stake, but I am open to work arounds. It would be fun to work on a plug in of some kind."

I guess he's asking for a plug-in? How can we help? Thanks!

Hi Marilyn - Thanks for opening the ticket.

It probably makes sense for me and Ryan to talk directly about what he's got in mind. Depending on what he's trying to embed, it might be possible for us to write some sort of plugin that'll meet his needs. If he's comfortable with it, I'd prefer to create him a Redmine account so we can discuss directly on this ticket. Alternatively, you can pass my email address to him and we'll sort out his requirements privately before moving back here to Redmine.

I'll tell him about Redmine. In the meantime, there was this exchange between him and Scott:

Scott Voth "Hi Ryan - just to add to what Marilyn said - we do have a plugin that embeds Google docs into pages and posts. Would that meet your needs? For more info - https://codex.commons.gc.cuny.edu/google-doc-embed-plugin/"

Ryan "I am aware of that plug in and it may come in handy for somethings but its not a solution to not allowing iframe embeds. There are iframe embed plug in out there, I could suggest one or it would ultimately be best to create a rule or allowance for me to use them. Im also working on a few other html based options in the text editor aspect of pages and posts but I will some help or allowance from the admin end."

I'm closing this ticket for the time being, as Ryan and I have started an email thread discussing the various possibilities. We can move back to Redmine once we have something concrete to propose.
