Description

User Emily Fairey writes:

I administer a blog that resides at CUNY academic commons: https://bcmuseumed.commons.gc.cuny.edu (https://bcmuseumed.commons.gc.cuny.edu/) , belonging to Chris Richards. Chris wants to migrate this site to the Brooklyn College Wordpress server. The IT person at Brooklyn College, Leonora Kissis, told me that to do this, they need the contents of the folder:

/wp-content/uploads/

Could I either get ftp access to the folder, or you could send me the files?

I can provide a zip of uploaded files, but that alone is not enough to run the migration. A better technique is to use WordPress's native export and import tools; these tools can automatically fetch remote attachments, making it unnecessary to handle files directly in the way that's being requested.

Could you follow up with the user to get a broader sense of their migration plans? I'm happy to provide them with a zip, but I want to make sure it's actually going to suit their needs.

Thanks Boone! They reply - "zip of uploaded files will do, the site has been migrated but some of the media was not, that is the easiest way to address that issue"

Thanks, Marilyn. I've generated a zipped file, which can be downloaded from commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-content/bcmuseumed.tar.gz. Can you please have the reporter let me know when they've successfully downloaded it, so that I can remove it?
