Description

I'm writing on behalf of the CUNY GC's Office of Career Planning and Professional Development.

On the Career Planning website (hosted on the Commons), we want to create a podcast series for GC students comprised of interviews with GC alumni.

Although we are unsure if using progressive downloads rather than actual streaming would work, we are starting our exploration by using archive.org to host our media.

I can easily embed links from archive.org via:
https://archive.org/help/audio.php
onto Wordpress/web pages, such as the Commons, but the issue is how to publish the podcast RSS that contains these media file embed links to iTunes?

I have explored both of these plugins:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/powerpress/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/seriously-simple-podcasting
as vehicles toward this need to transmit to iTunes and wondering if you would be willing to install either or both?
If not, do you have a preferred plugin that I could use in conjunction with our Commons based site:
https://careerplan.commons.gc.cuny.edu/

Stephen Klein of the GC Library helped us explore possibilities, by installing PowerPress on a scratch site:
http://ldv1.gc.cuny.edu/~sklein/pod/
which generated this URL:
http://ldv1.gc.cuny.edu/~sklein/pod/index.php/feed/podcast/
This is the URL that iTunes needs to know about.

Would the Commons team help support this project and install a plugin, so we can generate a similar URL from the Career Planning site to publish to iTunes?

Hi Anders - Thanks for the detailed ticket.

PowerPress looks good to me, if it suits your purpose. I've added to our repo, and it will be available as part of our next scheduled release (Sat, Apr 1).
