Description
Via user Stefano Morello:
- What's the name of the plugin/theme?
PDF Embedder
- In a few words, what does it do?
It allows to upload PDFs and embed them into pages/posts. PDFs are automatically sized to their natural size and shape.
How is the plugin/theme different from what's already provided on the Commons?
As far as I was able to discover, there seems to be no PDF embedder among the plugins already installed.
- What's the potential impact? Who will use it?
I am working on a project for Steve Brier - https://ccda.commons.gc.cuny.edu/ - we will use it to allow users to navigate through archival material directly on the website.
- Who initially made the request?
Stefano Morello / Steve Brier
- Who is the plugin author?
Dan Lester
- Say a little bit about the release history and popularity of the plugin. How many times has it been downloaded? When was it last updated?
It seems to be one of the most popular plugins for WordPress. It has over 100,000 installations and I have been using it on several other sites that I manage. It’s been updated to work with WordPress 4.9. More info here https://wordpress.org/plugins/pdf-embedder/

BTW, I would also love this plugin for the History site. I am constantly having to convert PDFs into JPEGs.

- Category name set to WordPress Plugins
- Target version set to 1.12.2
Plugin looks good at a glance. I'll do a further review and we should be able to include in the release on the 21st.

Will I be able to access it as well? Hope I'm costing costing $.

Yes, it will be available to all users! No current plans to add the non-free version, though we can talk about that after the plugin has been in use for a while.
