Description
Tony Picciano wrote in to say that his blog was taking an extraordinarily long time to load. I guessed right away that the hit counter was causing the problem. And, indeed, when I disabled it (after waiting for various pages to load), the problem was resolved.
It looks like it's a bug in the plugin -- http://wordpress.org/support/topic/severe-bug-with-wordpress-321 -- so I think we should remove it from the site.
