“My Groups” conflating two groups

Description
Michael Miller (Chief Librarian @ BCC) reports via Zendesk:
"I logged into the Academic Commons and went to the listing of “Groups” via the “My Groups” tab. The "Group" link to the CUNY Council of Chief Librarians is linking to the wrong group forum.
There are two groups:
1. - CUNY Council of Chief Librarians - https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/cuny-council-of-chief-librarians/
2. - CUNY Council of Chief Librarians: Agendas and Minutes - https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/ccl-agendas-minutes/
The link to the first needs to be restored/corrected."
These are closed groups, so I can't replicate it. Michael has asked the admin of them to add me so that I can see if the problem exists when one goes to the URL, or if it's a fault withing My Groups. LMK if you need more info.
Another:
“All of my group sites have glitches when I try to access the forum, files pages, etc. It redirects to the wrong page. Check a few groups, and it’s occurring across all. Colleagues confirm the same.
Thanks for your help,
Best,
Julie

It appears that NextGEN Gallery was causing some sort of wacky redirects, which were occurring before BP had a chance to disable WP's canonical redirect.
I see other instances around the web of this happening. See eg https://wordpress.org/support/topic/nextgen-buddypress-fatal-bug/
The fact that this just started happening suggests that either (a) the plugin was just activated on the main Commons site for the first time, or (b) yesterday's update introduced the bug. In either case, I don't see a reason why NextGEN Gallery should be activated on the primary site. I've deactivated it there, and the problem appears to have gone away.
