Description

Passing this along from ZenDesk:

"I'm Hunter Kincaid, doctoral candidate in psychology at the grad center. I help run sexgenlab.org (http://sexgenlab.org/) with other grad students and faculty here at CUNY through the commons. At first I emailed Kristen Hackett who is one of the word press coordinators and she told me to email the commons and that you might be able to help me out. We want to upgrade the SEO plugin features to premium on our site and Kristen said you may be able to help get a discount or install it at no cost? Any info you could give would be a great help, we are trying to increase our web presence so the research we translate reaches a wider audience, that premium upgrade would help us create strategies a lot more effectively and improve our website!"

LMK what to ask. Thanks!

I assume the reporter is referring to the WordPress SEO plugin (Yoast)? The Premium version is fairly expensive https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/. We definitely do not have the budget for all of the Commons to upgrade. Matt, can you chime in?

That's correct. And unfortunately, the Commons did not receive a budget this year for software purchases, so we cannot purchase this on behalf of the SGL. However, should the SGL decide to purchase the plugin on its own, we can upload it to the CAC and make it available to just their site.

No reply on this. I'm sure they don't have a budget either. Feel free to mark as resolved.

I called it too soon! Today, he replies "Hi Marilyn, after a few meetings we decided we are just going to pay for the SEO premium upgrade ourselves. How should we proceed? On our wordpress it takes us to a place where you can click through to yoast SEO premium and select a plan. But before doing any of that wanted to see what the best way would be. Or if yall need to upload anything before we select a plan etc. Thank you again for all your help!

  • Subject changed from request for upgraded plugin to Yoast SEO premium for sexgenlab.org
  • Status changed from Assigned to Reporter Feedback

The org should purchase the license themselves through https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/, then download the plugin and send it to me, along with any license key information. I'll then add it to the Commons and make it accessible only to the specified site.
