footer logo image has no alt-text

Description
Amy Wolfe reports
I wanted to let you know that the "cac-footer-logo" image has no alt-text and therefore users of assistive technology are not able to identify the site image logo.
- Status changed from New to Reporter Feedback
- Target version set to 1.17.1
The image isn't missing the alt
attribute. Instead, it has an empty alt
attribute. This should indicate to assistive technologies that the text is decorative and doesn't contain any information. See https://www.w3.org/WAI/tutorials/images/decorative/. The text 'CUNY Academic Commons logo' would be semantically correct but would be superfluous to someone using a screen reader.
However, if Amy is using an assistive technology and has first-hand advice about how best to handle this site logo, I'd welcome the feedback.
- Target version changed from 1.17.1 to 1.17.2
- Target version changed from 1.17.2 to 1.17.3
- Target version changed from 1.17.3 to 1.17.4
- Status changed from Reporter Feedback to Rejected
I'm going to close this one, but I'm happy to reopen there's additional support for the request.
