Description

Today I used the group creation process to create a new group. As part of that process, I added an avatar for the group. However, when I went to the group following group creation, the group had a default avatar instead of the one I had uploaded.

Please share details about the group you created.

Sure -- it was this group - https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/cat-open-source-subcommittee/

I set it up as a private group. Added an avatar image during the group creation steps. After group creation, I clicked on the "invite people to this group" link.

After the invites were sent, I clicked on the "go to this group" button. That's where I saw that the avatar hadn't taken.

I've just run my own test and avatar upload worked as expected during group creation. Once the group was created, the avatar had properly been saved, and appeared in the group header.

The UX during creation is not great, though. You must upload the image, then wait for the crop interface to appear. Then, you must go through the crop process and click 'Crop Image', and then wait until you see the green success message 'The group profile photo was uploaded successfully'. If you click 'Finish' before completing all these steps, the avatar won't show up. I'm guessing that this is what happened.
