Description
Greetings,
I am noticing something strange about the post order on this site https://8nsshl2021.commons.gc.cuny.edu/
The posts do not seem to show by the expected default order (reverse chronological.)
In addition, when I activate the simple Custom Post Order plugin in an attempt to get the posts to show in the order we want (happens to be alphabetical by title), that solution is also foiled.
I’ve included two screenshots (dashboard and front end).
When I first set these timestamps in order to show the posts alphabetically, the posts did show in the correct order. But since then, they have reverted to an order that looks random.
I attempted to re-create this on a test site, thinking that it might be related to the 2017 theme, but I got mixed results (the "Hello World" post showed at the top, when it should show last, even when I changed themes, which seemed odd, and the rest showed in normal order. Sorry I don't have more info there.)
Let me know if I can provide any additional info/apologies if this is something simple.

Hi Syelle - When I visit https://8nsshl2021.commons.gc.cuny.edu/ I only see a single post.
Could you give a precise URL to the page that demonstrates the issue? Perhaps the URL of the page from your 'symposium site front' screenshot.

Thanks for the link! It looks like you're running a plugin called Simple Custom Post Order. See settings at https://8nsshl2021.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=scporder-settings. This plugin is causing posts to be ordered by their 'menu_order' property. Looking at the way the plugin works, it appears that the list at https://8nsshl2021.commons.gc.cuny.edu/wp-admin/edit.php can be dragged/dropped to reorder.
To get things back to reverse-chonological order, you should be able to simply disable the plugin, or uncheck 'Posts' on the plugin's settings panel.

Don't think so! I only activated SCP order plugin in an attempt to get the posts into the order we wanted. It was not activated when I started creating this ticket.
In my original ticket, I wrote:

I ended up deactivating SCP plugin, and instead using time stamps to order the posts, but they kept reverting to an unpredictable order.

(I deactivated it again just now, but in the past, this was always temporary. The only thing I can do is check back in a couple of weeks, to see if the post order reverts again!)

Can you clarify this? My original understanding was that the posts were appearing in an odd order despite the timestamps. But then you said that changing the timestamps does appear to change the order. Does this mean that the timestamps of the posts are mysteriously changing during the interim?
