Description

Hi All,

A professor would like students to post comments on each others posts on this site: https://eng430blitz.commons.gc.cuny.edu

It appears that new posts are not open for comment even though the Settings>Discussion indicate they should be. There are only ~10 recent posts that need to have comments turned on, but students will be posting all semester and all future posts need to allow comments as well.

When I try to bulk edit Posts to Allow Comments, I get an error about an image. Screenshot attached.

I am not sure why this image error is restricting comments, or if this is even the problem, but the two issues do seem to be connected.

for some reason i am not allowed to add screenshots? I am getting an internal server error on redmine.

I am on my internet connection at home and have not had an issue with this before.

Not sure about Redmine - I'm seeing the same error. I'll ping IT.

In the meantime, can you please say what you mean by "new post are not open for comment"? Can you point to a specific URL? Are you not seeing the comment section at all, or are you seeing the comment section but no new-comment form, or are you getting an error when trying to post a comment, or something else?

The bulk-edit notice appears unrelated. I'll try to look at this after settling the comment issue.

Hm Okay.

It appears that even though the image error on the bulk edit was not working, it now appears that the comments are turned on for those posts. And a new post i created also appears to allow comments. I am confused - when i looked this morning and yesterday, comments were not allowed on posts even though the discussion settings were correct. So, nevermind i guess? It appears the issue I saw before is no longer an issue.

Very strange! I wonder if there was a caching issue, or something like that, which was causing the 'comments open' setting not to be immediately visible. Anyway, I like problems that solve themselves :)

BTW, IT has fixed the file-upload problem for Redmine.
