The Newsletter Glue plugin doesn't actually send any emails on its own, and as such, it skirts most of the problems we've had with other newsletter tools. Instead, it integrates with third-party email services like MailChimp and Campaign Monitor.

That said, I'm wary of installing the plugin because, according to the author, it's no longer supported. See https://wordpress.org/plugins/newsletter-glue/. Future development will take place only on the paid version. So, in order to make the plugin work, the user would need to purchase a license https://newsletterglue.com/pricing/ and also perhaps purchase credits from MailChimp or some other service that actually processes the outgoing email.

As such, I think we might consider making some other suggestions to the user. We already have a plugin that integrates with MailChimp, https://wordpress.org/plugins/mailchimp-for-wp/; if the user is already paying for MailChimp, or would be willing to do so, then this solution would probably work. Alternatively, perhaps we could suggest Jetpack's subscription tools, or whatever newsletter workarounds we currently recommend.
