It appears that this was originally needed for cross-domain logins. Ray, is it still needed after changes to our domain-mapping infrastructure?

If it remains on the site, it should be hidden from non-super-admins. I have done so in https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/984daadd3e5f261abdf509acdd19438abad029d7
