Description

When you upload a document without assigning it to (or creating) a folder, it's automatically placed in "New Folder." One of our members pointed this out earlier today and I can see that the "New Folder" exists in almost all of my groups. Is it possible to remove this folder from all of the groups where it is listed?

Also, (and this may warrant another ticket) can we give members the ability to delete or rename a folder?

This does warrant a separate ticket, which I'll put in Future Release. This stuff is all getting a proper rewrite for the purposes of CBox.

Is it possible to remove this folder from all of the groups where it is listed?

I have fixed the underlying problem that caused the 'New Folder' folder to be created in the first place. See https://github.com/castiron/cac/commit/53d90f63445e63269fffaf0a3122aab290d03cf8. I can also delete existing instances from the entire system, but I want to verify with Matt that this is OK before doing it, as it's irreversible.

Is there any reason why that could upset members? If not, I think it's safe to delete. If so, let's do it on a case-by-case basis if asked.

I don't think so. I just didn't want to be the sole person giving the green light. It's much easier to do at once than on a case-by-case basis, for what it's worth.

Yes. Remember that those "folders" are just WP categories, and removing a category doesn't change any content.

Sorry to be a pain Boone, but it looks like the "New Folder" still appears in the following group: http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/bikecuny/documents/.

Hi Sarah. I have removed the instances of New Folder that I found. I'm not sure whether I missed them the first time, or whether they've cropped up since the release. I'm guessing the former. Anyway, feel free to reopen if they start appearing again.
