Description

Hi Boone,

The GC is trying to archive materials related to two publications on the Commons -- JITP and Zeteo. Ideally, there would be a way of downloading the entire media library of those blogs, but am I right that WP storage schema in a MS install make it difficult to download all files associated with a particular blog? We're wondering whether there is any way of doing this outside of manually going through the library and downloading individual files. If we can't figure out a way to automate the process, we may just forget about archiving the journals, which wouldn't be the end of the world.

Please let me know your thoughts when you have a chance. Thanks.

Matt

Packaging all of a blog's files is pretty easy, since WP keeps them in a directory structure like this:

[blog_id]/[year]/[month]/[day]

I can easily zip any level of this directory structure. The challenge is if you want to create zip files selectively.

Also, a quick search didn't turn up any tools that would really work for doing this in an automated way from the front end. If it's only an issue for the two journals, and it only needs to happen on occasion (like once per release), then just open a ticket and I'll create the zip. If it's going to be required more frequently than this, then I can create an admin tool, but that will take time.

Great - thanks, Boone. It will be just a few times a year, so I'll create a new ticket.
