Description

One of those blogs with a really long name is not accessible: http://ascp81000introductiontoamericanstudiesmals73100americanculturesandvaluesgcfall2012.commons.gc.cuny.edu/

(error I see: "Oops! Google Chrome could not find ascp81000introductiontoamericanstudiesmals73100americanculturesandvaluesgcfall2012.commons.gc.cuny.edu")

The site does show up in the list of sites in the Commons Network admin dashboard.

A link to the blog shows up on the group associated with the blog:

http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/groups/ascp-81000-introduction-to-american-studies-mals-73100-american-cultures-and-values-gc-fall-2012/

Possibly related to one of the tickets we've completed lately related to long blog names?

This blog is for a class, so I'd like to resolve this soon if we can. Though perhaps the quickest thing to do would be to ask him to start a new blog and associate that one with the group instead?

Possibly related to one of the tickets we've completed lately related to long blog names?

It's related to the issues discussed in #1989, but those issues have not been settled, and the ticket hasn't been closed.

For the moment, I've manually changed the domain of the blog to http://mals73100americanculturesandvaluesgcfall2012.commons.gc.cuny.edu/. I know this only reflects one-half of the course's apparent cross-listing. I'm happy to change it to something else (63 characters or shorter) if the admin would prefer.

I've checked in with the user and he'd prefer IntroAmSt2012

Is there a way to alter the connection in the group, or does that require a more significant fix?

I've made the change.

What does "alter the connection to the group" mean? No change is needed for the groupblog connection to recognize the URL; this link happens via blog_id, which does not change.

What does "alter the connection to the group" mean?

I meant the "Blog" link in the group menu should lead to the new URL. Glad it does. Many thanks for your quick attention to this.
