Feature #2136
closedPlugin Request: WordPress SEO by Yoast
100%
Description
I would like to request that the following plugin be considered for addition to the Commons in the next release:
WordPress SEO by Yoast
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-seo/
I would like to use this for the ARC site: http://research.commons.gc.cuny.edu/
After launching the new ARC Distinguished Fellowships, we are getting okay direct and referral traffic, but search traffic is quite low. We would like the ability to assign meta tags at the individual page level, create Google XML sitemaps and implement Google's rel=”author” tags, among other features to improve our search engine rankings.
If successful, I would also like to use this plugin with the new blogs that the Program Social Media Fellows are creating.
I have evaluated other WordPress SEO plugins, and although it is not the most popular, Yoast's seems to have the most robust features and methodology.
Thank you,
Chris Caruso

Boone,
Do you have any objections to adding this plugin? I've used it in the past, it's a rather large plugin that adds a lot to the admin interface but everyone seems to love it.
I can't think of any reason why we shouldn't offer this to Commons members. Unless there are SEO related features already implemented globally by the Commons that you feel may create a conflict?
If you agree, I can download it and commit it to free up your to do list.

I also added a reminder under the 1.4.6 heading of the Release-ACTION_REQUIRED-list wiki page to activate it and notify Chris.

Hi Chris - FYI, the release is live, so you can activate and configure the plugin whenever you'd like.
