Description

Members of the Commons using JetPack's "NewsLetter" feature are unable to change the "From" address (..."@wordpress.com") and consequently, GC mail labels the emails as spam. GC IT is unable to whitelist this "From" address. We received a request to install the "WP Change Email Sender" plugin. I tested it and another related plugin but found they didn't work for emails sent via JetPack. I was disappointed, since this would seem an easy solution to our ongoing issues with Newsletter post propagation.

Would it be possible to create a plugin that filters the JetPack email "From" field from @wordpress.com to @cuny.edu?

Matt also suggested trying plugins that take a post's RSS feed to create emails, but that should probably be a separate Redmine issue. Feel free to reject this issue if it involves too much effort, or if the RSS suggestion is a better solution.

Scott, thanks for opening this ticket to clarify the request.

The Jetpack emails in question are not sent by the Commons. They come from wordpress.com. As such, we don't have any control over the From header, or any other headers. That's why plugins like the WP Change Email Sender plugin won't do anything - they can only modify emails that are sent by the WP server. So, unfortunately, this particular strategy probably isn't worth pursuing anymore.

I linked #21437 because we had a previous discussion about Jetpack's newsletter woes and alternative options there.
