Description

Multiple reports of doucments missing from sites.

See screenshot from user 1. I have asked for link to site where issue is ocurring.

User 2 reports "You can find an example of this issue on this site: https://eng110emilcar.commons.gc.cuny.edu/
When I try to open attached documents, more often than not, I get the error message "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."

The issue comes up when students simply attach a document to the page rather than posting through textboxes or embeds."

I have asked user 2 for screenshot of error message. but these issues appear to be related?

To clarify, "documents" means "files uploaded to a site", right? Does it specifically refer to a file type, like pdf?

I was able to identify the problem in the case with the screenshot: the URL is being malformed (an extra instance of 'wp-content'). I poked around the site and found a page where PDFs were being embedded: https://eng21tufail.commons.gc.cuny.edu/service/ I put a change in place that fixes the way that these URLs are formed and the PDFs are now appearing https://github.com/cuny-academic-commons/cac/commit/0af2bfd4c2b5c4c6eefdbf1a36b7bfb4065c1657 Perhaps you could confirm with the user. If they are still having problems, please get details: I visited the following URL, I expected to see X, instead I saw Y

Regarding https://eng110emilcar.commons.gc.cuny.edu/, I clicked around this site after pushing my fix and found this page: https://eng110emilcar.commons.gc.cuny.edu/phase-1-multimodal-language-and-literacy-narrative/ As such, I'm guessing this is probably the same issue as the other one, and it appears to be fixed. If the user still has problems, I'll need details on how to reproduce.

Hi Boone,

Thanks for this info. I'll check in with the users reporting these issues and if still experiencing, I will get more info to report back. Thank you!

I've shipped these fixes with the 2.5.1 release. The fact that we haven't heard back from the reporter suggests to me that the issue is probably resolved. Please feel free to reopen and/or update this ticket if you hear differently.
