Bug #21855
openOdd popup after top-level search query
0%
Description
I can't reproduce this one any more, so maybe something happened in the last hour with it, but I wanted to mention anyway that during the dev call Laurie and I were both seeing the attached popup in a private tab when searching "jana porter" from the top-level search icon from the Commons homepage while logged in:
https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/search-results/?q=jana+porter
Like I said, it's gone now, but just an FYI in case someone else can reproduce or it tracks with a recent change that may have been made.

As to why you'd see this weird modal thing, I'm unsure. I'm having a hard time thinking of a feature of the Commons that would do this. This page embeds a Google CSE, but it's not clear to me how that would generate markup like this.
I'm tempted to say that this is a caching bug, but your screenshot shows that you were logged in. So in theory you shouldn't be receiving a cached page. Even if you were, as noted above, I'm unsure what kind of cached page we'd be looking at.
If this happens again, please see if you can save the HTML content of the page, or show a screenshot of you using the browser inspector tools to look at the popup element. Seeing some classnames or other details might help me narrow down what part of the codebase could be responsible for this kind of markup.

Ok Boone, thanks. The community team and I will be on the lookout for it to pop up again.
