How/Where to add it? Boone, have you done any thinking along these lines already? Certainly, there will be UI considerations.

- Severity set to Low impact
André, Participad uses a nodejs app called Etherpad Lite as its backend: http://etherpad.org/ Would you mind having a look at the requirements/installation instructions and letting me know how much work you think it'd be to get an installation on the Commons server? (For the moment, Participad's cookie schema requires that the Etherpad Lite installation be accessible on the same domain, so something like etherpad.commons.gc.cuny.edu or commons.gc.cuny.edu:1234 would work)
Chris, your thoughts would be welcome about how/where Participad would fit throughout the Commons.
Putting into 1.6 for the moment. If it turns out that it's easy to implement, we'll move back.

Ok, it's running on http://cdev.gc.cuny.edu:9001, but that port is blocked on the external firewall so use remote.gc.cuny.edu to test. I'm not sure if WP will access this locally (127.0.0.1:9001) in which case nevermind the firewall.

Hi André. I'm just getting around to testing it, but I'm afraid I'm not 100% sure how to use remote.gc.cuny.edu. Are there docs somewhere?
FWIW I downloaded the Citrix Receiver program, and am attempting to connect to remote.gc.cuny.edu, but it's refusing my u:p combo. Maybe I'm getting my domain\user wrong? I'm using acad\bgorges, but I've tried a bunch of different things.

Boone, please try just 'bgorges'. Also double-check that the citrix plugin is installed on your browser (about:plugins
on firefox) as it can be quite tricky to get this to run on gnu/linux. I'll try to dig up some docs.
