Went to Bowe's profile page - http://commonsinabox.org/members/bowe/

clicked on the title of a post he had commented on (text of link is "Bowe Frankema replied to the topic CBOX theme looks great! in the forum CBOX Pioneers 1 day, 2 hours ago"; link is http://commonsinabox.org/groups/ciab-pioneers/forums/topic/cbox-theme-looks-great/ )

that took me to a 404 page (see screenshot)

I think we should change the 404 page, too, but that's a separate ticket. will explain soon.

This is related to #2280. A previous conflict between bbPress and BuddyPress meant that forum links got built using the string 'forum'; after I fixed the conflict, the URLs used the string 'forums'. The change is applied automatically in most places, but in the case of activity items, the value is hardcoded in the database, so it did not automatically detect the change.

Newer activity items have the correct URLs written in the database.

To manually go and change the existing links (or to write a script to do it for me) would take a couple of hours. Since the problematic links are already off the main /community page, I'm going to say it's not worth the effort.
