Events Calendar overwrites Events page with slug of "events"

Description
If you have a page called "Events" and you activate the Events Calendar event to look at it, it overwrites that page so that the slug "events" is always looking for the Events Cal page. If you deactivate it and still have your original Events page under the slug "events," it will not open and just sends you back to the home page. I'll report this to Redmine. My solution on justpublics365.commons.gc.cuny.edu was to rename our Events page slug "allevents."
hey jen! if you look in the events calendar settings, there is a tab for "pages" and under that, you can change the permalink slug to something else for events. i'm not sure what's going on when you disable the plugin, but you might try going to dashboard>settings>permalinks, select "default", save changes, load the events page, then change the setting back to whatever permalink structure you had previously (e.g., "month and name"). this should trigger the wordpress url rewrite rules.
