Bug #23168
closedUser site spam issue
0%
Description
I was sharing a link to the CAC with someone and looked at the homepage. In the recent activity feed, there was a link to this post (https://syellegraves.commons.gc.cuny.edu/2025/08/13/free-variation-in-crazy-ex-girlfriend/), which appears to be spam. So, one issue here is a spam post
when I originally looked at the homepage, I saw the title of the post there, with the "crazy ex girlfriend" language. But, now that I look at it, the post appears to be gone from the homepage feed. So, did someone (Ray, Boone?) see the spam post and delete it? Did some automated process catch it? I'm confused.
At any rate, it looks like the homepage issue may have been fixed by someone. But the spam issue -- how the post got posted -- still needs to be solved, and if no one did actually work on this, I'm not sure how the post was fixed on the homepage

Hi Matt,
The blog post doesn't appear to be spam to me. It fits in with Syelle's general posts on the blog: https://syellegraves.commons.gc.cuny.edu/fun-linguistics/.
For the homepage, the homepage shows different content when you are logged-in vs. if you are logged-out. Syelle's post is currently visible when logged-out under the "Active Sites" block. When you are logged-in, the "Active Sites" block is no longer visible, but you can see Syelle's post under the "CUNY-Wide Activity" block, although it is formatted slightly differently.
Hope that answers your question, Matt.
