Description

I've set up cbox.org with the same nameserver settings as commonsinabox.org. Pending agreement from the team, I think we should set up cbox.org as the main URL for our Commons In A Box site (currently commonsinabox.org). Let's wait a day or two to see whether any members of the team object, and then if not, let's make cbox.org the main URL. I think that everything just needs to be set up on the server/dashboard side.

When I visit cbox.org, I see a white screen. How is the domain currently set up? ping shows me that it goes to the correct IP, but I don't see anything in httpd.conf that suggests that it should work. André, is this in your domain?

Boone, a reminder that André (sadly) is no longer at the GC :(

Attached is a screenshot of what's on the host records; anything I need to change there?

If we need to raise a ticket with the GC temporary sys admins, please let me know.

Yes. Because I don't have root access, we'll need someone to create a vhost entry for cbox.org before moving forward.

Okay, IT has resolved this -- cbox.org now redirects to commonsinabox.org. Is that the way we want it, or do we want cbox.org to be the default domain?

The way they've set it up seems to be a bit off. Requests to cbox.org/foo are redirecting to commonsinabox.orgfoo - the slash after the .org is not being added. I tried fixing this with an .htaccess rule, but it looks like the change is happening at the level of apache config, so it's out of my control.

Is that the way we want it, or do we want cbox.org to be the default domain?

The latter will mean a fair amount of work to rewrite all addresses in the database and change the necessary WP configuration. But it's your call.
