Some LILAC group forum emails not arriving
Hi Boone, those emails from the 2 forum posts in the LILAC group that I made yesterday afternoon have still not arrived. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the other bits of LILAC weirdness: the old avatar showing up and the post from George from the Comp & Rhet group that's appearing at the bottom of the activity feed on the LILAC group page? Thanks!

Thanks for the report, Maura. Have you received email notifications from any other groups since then? I just tested one and they're working just fine. My hunch is that there was a hiccup in commons.gc.cuny.edu email yesterday morning, but that the hiccup was temporary.
I just sent an invite for you to join a test group. Would you mind joining and posting to the forum? That way we can see if it's a system problem.

Yeah, could be. I posted 3 messages on the LILAC forum (all responses to preexisting topics) and only got 1 email message.
Just joined + posted in the test group -- will keep you posted. I've got a class from 10-11:30ish so I'll be offline for a bit but back afterward. Thanks Boone!

I'm not certain if I have solved the problem or not, but here's what happened. I put a mail stop in place, so that I could do some testing (I was going to try to generate a list of the email addresses in the group instead of sending emails to those addresses). I came up with a blank list, as if the group didn't have any members. Then I did some other testing, tracing it back up the line. As I came back down through the function, I couldn't find the problem. But when I switched the testing mechanisms off for one final test, the email actually got sent. Maura, did you get the 'test' email?
It's possible - though I can't explain why this would happen - that something was gumming up the works in that particular group, and that I managed to clear up the problem. This is a total shot in the dark :)
On a side note, it's quite hard to troubleshoot email problems, without risking spamming people!

Thanks very much for the update, Maura. Email notifications are rolling in from all over the site, which makes me think that it's not a super widespread issue; and I was able to post something to the LILAC group and have the email go out. So I'm left to conclude that this has something to do with your account :) I'm going to email you with an idea I have for testing.

Just an update for future reference: Maura and I have been working on this offline. Haven't really been making progress in identifying the root problem, but I'm hoping that a modification or two made today will help. Going to change the ticket to Feedback as I'm hoping Maura will post an update next time she has reason to send a forum notification.

Since this issue should be totally nullified with the upcoming 1.1 release, I'm going to close the ticket. Maura, if there are problems after that upgrade (probably within the next few weeks) please open another ticket. Thanks for your patience.
